LionHunter+.50 Ammunition-Good News
The problem of TSA confiscating +.50 ammunition has been discovered and corrected, thanks to NRA-ILA. A new DOT safe travel flier is available which states ammunition up to .75 is legal.
I suggest you print and carry a copy from:
http://safetravel.dot.gov/index.htmlClick on Ammunition near the right top.

An earlier DOT message cited .50 as a maximum and that is apparently where the TSA confusion originated.
I recommend printing and carrying a copy for presentation to TSA imbeciles. Go to
http://safetravel.dot.gov/index_ammunition.htmlIt does not, however, make reference to export.

577neThis is excellent news! I had received the run around from SCI via e-mail and phone on this
issue. A print out of that page should solve
the problem if it arises.

JPKThere were some recent reports of TSA confiscations of 500NE Ammo, as I recall, but it was second hand info.

KebcoTo date I have not encountered a single person that has had a problem. All information seems second hand. I am starting to wonder if this is just a internet rumor.

This is listed in
SafeTravel.dot.gov ....Department of Transpertation, and applies only to the USA!
Listed under safe travel with Ammunition, but has nothing to do with the rules for transporting ammo to a other countries, but is simply a United States DOT rule.
The .75 caliber only pertains to travel inside the USA! The airlines can restrict that rule anyway they choose,by reduceing it, but not inlargeing it! The .50 cut of is for transporting war weapons,or ammo into another country, and falls under a different segment of the government, and their agreement with other countries!
This .75 cal rule means nothing when traveling to some countries in Africa!
