I like to say that good wood is where you find it, and I found some great pieces this week.

Damn Chris! There is some nice stuff in photo number three. Should we reconsider what we were planning to use on my little project?

Well I am sure you know that starting walnut firewood like that is tough. I would be will to send you a couple cords of esay to burn pine so that you don't have to go to all the trouble. Would even trade straight accross Big Grin

I really like the one in the middle. Look forward to seeing those beautiful blanks stocked on a rifle.

Nice find

I have a good friend, Cecil Fredi, just minutes away from me who has over 35,000 gun stock blanks. He finds, cuts, dries and grades a number of kinds and types of Walnut, Myrtle, Maple, etc, and sells gunstock blanks all over the world. Like Chris, I'm in heaven visiting his business. I have a number of his pieces on my custom rifles. Beautiful wood is definitely eye candy! tu2

I used Cecil Fredi's blanks on a couple of my Rugers, (a .458 Lott and a .223 Remington). LeRoy Barry of Canyon Creek Custom Gunstocks did the work. Cecil has a large selection of blanks to choose from. I was pleased with the result. Cheers. Chip.

The most attractive wood I've seen comes from a source in Germany.I have their business card somewhere and I think that one of the stocks on my 458's comes from them.
