The saga continues: Dave Manson has finished the reamers that Gerard and I are going to be using. Gerard: .395 GSC 1) finish reamer (removable pilot) and 2) sizer/rougher reamer (fixed pilot), which use a .375 H&H headspace guage Ron: 1) .395 Tatanka finish reamer (removable pilot) and go guage 2) 398 Lapua Magnum neck and throat reamer (removable pilot) with .3000" of freebore instead of the .2000" freebore length on the others above (to be used with a .338 Lapua Magnum reamer and go guage plus the N&T reamer) .395 GSC finish reamer neck diameter: .4232" .395 Tatanka reamer neck diameter: .4280" 398 Lapua Magnum finish reamer neck diameter: .4280" Gerard is necking up .375 H&H brass. I am necking down .416 Rigby brass. I think these will work fine. My neck brass wall thickness is a bit more. Of note: I asked (pretty please) Dave Manson to make the reamer to fit brass neck diameter of .425" and he gave me a reamer with neck diameter of .428". This is probably less slop than the average factory rifle chamber. Prof242, take note. Boom stick, get to work!

Oops! Moderator: Please move this to the Big Bores forum. Pretty please! Otherwise I'll have to turn this into a double rifle related thread, and that would mean a Baikal 450/395 NE 2-inch. Please don't make me do that!

No moderator to move this to the big bore forum after my asleep at the keyboard mispost? Very well, then I am forced to wildcat a .395 Rimmed cartridge for use in single shots AND double rifles, so why not one for each? Ruger No.1: .395/45/120 3.25" = 40 Tatanka Rimmed or "40 TR" Searcy or rebored Merkel: 470/395 Nitro Express, oh yeah, now that I know so much about reboring doubles. Now this thread is pertinent to double rifles of a non-Baikal persuasion. No moderator for the double rifle forum?

O.K., It's finalized. Only one rimmed cartridge for me in .395 caliber: 470/395 Nitro Express Tatanka Rimmed 3.25" ".395 TR" whenever the custom brass gets made. 40K psi with 340-grainer @ 2400fps in a double should be a snap with something like H50BMG powder. I am sure it can be regulated to shoot somewhere between these two extremes of infinitesimalism: A) parallel to infinity B) crossing exactly at 50 yards
