Last year I bought a Chapuis combination gun. It has a pair of .30/30 side-by-side barrels with a QD scope mount system. The second set of barrels are 28 gauge choked imp/mod and mod +.

The gun was regulated just fine with the iron sights that came with it on the rifle barrels, but diverged significantly with the scope attached.

I sent it to JJ for re-regulation and when I got it back I was most happy with his work. It has become my "go to" firearm.

This last week I took it to Clark Purvis' Roanoke Waterfowl to hunt deer and perhaps shoot a duck or two. I'd never shot it at over 100 yards and when I got to the lodge I discovered that the target was 150 yards away since most shots would be about that range. I shouldn't have been concerned. I cut the edge of the 2.5" bullseye circle with both a left and a right.... and did the same with the two deer I shot while hunting.

JJ is a master.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

He seems like a quiet, confident, competent fellow. The world needs more like him.

Judge, I’m drooling just thinking about this gun. What a cool combination.

I believe JJ is primarily working out of his own shop now.

That is correct. Champlin Firearms (George Caswell) is still located in Enid. JJ lives and works in Sand Springs on Lake Keystone....he loves his boats, both sail and motor.

Thanks. I (obviously) didn't know that. I only caught part of that OETA segment. His new location is much more convenient for me.

JJ once did the impossible and regulated my 450-400 that had shortened barrels. There was not much to work with.

It took him most of the day cutting, welding and many trips driving to the range but he did not give up and finally got it.

I took it to Tanzania and it did just fine.

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
