I have been looking for good load data for my Baikal 30R Blaser double and it is very hard to come by but I found a good Italian source. I ran it through Google Translator so the language might be a little odd. If you want to check the original source I have included the URL

Orignal Source Here

It is pretty comprehensive and about 28 pages. The data is divided into bullet weights. For my 180gr Barnes TSX loads it looks like I need to get some IMR 4064. I can use the same powder for my .375 H&H as well as my .416 Rem mag. This is not the only data out there. I know that Subsailor has had good luck with RL22. I hope this helps anybody else looking for 30R data!

.30 CALIBER R BLASER (7.62 X68 MM R)

The cartridge caliber .30 R Blaser (NB in some literature sources this cartridge is known , albeit rarely, with the name of metric 7,62 x68mm R) is a partial derivative of the caliber .30-06 Springfield cartridge (see entry on whether ), made by the German company RWS at the end of the twentieth century in order to " ... bring new life ... " in the field of ammunition for small arms overhead . In Germany and in all countries of Central Europe, is widespread hunting of ungulates practiced with rifled arms overhead and for this reason the RWS thought it best to move the market by introducing a cartridge -based " ... on the old and always valid .30-06 ... ", but capable of performance very interesting. The original cartridge was offered in two configurations , respectively, based on a ball -type KS ( NB a type of ball -tipped conical / pointed produced exclusively from RWS ) and a type TUG (NB a ball type with tapered nose cone and tapered base created by W. Brenneke and produced by RWS ) 150 ( 9.7 GRAMS) and 180 grs . ( 11.7 GRAMS) , and was able to develop a speed of 20 - 30m / s higher . compared to those of the .30-06 Springfield .

LEGEND

- D = indicates the distance from the target (in m)
- V = indicates the speed of the proiettle at various distances ( in m / s )
- E = indicates the kinetic energy of the projectile at various distances ( in joules )
- T = indicates the time of flight of the projectile at various distances (in milliseconds)

The experiment took place with rods 600mm, and the muzzle velocity they amounted , respectively , on the 940 ( with the ball 150grs . ) And about 860m / s (with the ball 180grs . ) . The case length of 68mm compared to 63mm TYPICAL of the .30-06 Springfield , gives the cartridge case of the .30 R Blaser an interior volume 20% higher than the .30-06 Springfield. Unlike its ancestor , the caliber .30 R Blaser has a shoulder angle of 40 ° (NB in .30-06 Springfield shoulder angle is 17 ° 30 ' ) , which allows you to increase substantially the internal volume available for loading , without dramatically raising the pressure. The following are a summary of its main dimensional data :

- Maximum diameter of the bullet = 7.85 mm ( .309 " )
- Maximum length of the assembled cartridge ( OAL ) = 95.00 mm
- Maximum length of the cartridge case = 68.00 mm , but in the charging cradle home the shells are cut and trimmed to exact 67,80 mm
- Length of the cartridge case OVER the shoulder (typical) = 61.16 mm
- Length of the shell BELOW the shoulder (typical) = 57.77 mm
- Angle = 40 ° shoulder
- Diameter of collar = 8,73 mm
- Diameter at the base of the shoulder = 11.20 mm
- Diameter at the base of the body = 12,20 mm
- Diameter of the bottom = 13.50 mm
- Working pressure (mean maximum ) = 3500 bar ( 350MPa )
- Type = Large Rifle primers Standard
- Pitch of rifling (commercial) typical = 1 turn in 12 " barrels from 600 - 610mm ( 23.6 " - 24 ") with balls from 100 to 220 grs . Weight . Rods are still available even with step 1 turn 10 "

WARNING !

PLEASE ALWAYS CLEAN THE BARREL WITH SPECIFIC PRODUCTS AS MILFOAM (see website for more information www.milfoam.fi ) OR THE GUNSLICK (see website www.gunslick.com for more information) . THIS IS GREAT PRODUCT THAT ELIMINATES THE PARASITES OF COPPER DEPOSITS IN DEPTH ' AND FACILITATE CLEANING !

Recharging the .30 R Blaser is not particularly complex in terms of execution. The shells virgin (virgin cases ) can be found with relative ease in all the armories Italian -stocked , especially if it comes to gun shops specializing in items for hunting. In case of difficulty please contact specialized shops such as STITRA of Turin (NB please visit www.stitra.com for further clarification) or VOC Trading Chieri (NB please visit www.covtrading.com for further clarification) . triggers are the classic Large Rifle Standard , so you can employ the canons # CCI- 200 or equivalent. In no case should be employed triggers type Large Rifle Magnum , or may experience a dangerous pressure peaks at the time of the shot ! The balls used are theoretically all those that currently exist for the cartridges caliber 7.62 mm ( .308 "). However, on a practical level the balls really useful , and therefore usable in practice , are those weighing between 150 and 180grs . ! By what concerns propellants , since the catuccia derives from .30-06 Springfield , in line general we can say that all the propellants ( or at least most ) used to recharge the .30-06 Springfiield can use with satisfaction to reload the .30 R Blaser . bibliographic Some sources point out that this is not entirely true, and that to get the best results with the .30 R Blaser it should invest only in .30-06 propellants that are known to be more progressive (Note the use of the higher progressivity is justified , according to some sources , due to the higher internal volume ) .

WARNING !

DUE TO THE POOR CIRCULATION OF .30 R BLASER IN OUR COUNTRY , THE GAUGE IN QUESTION IS POORLY RELOADED BY SHOOTERS / HUNTERS . HOLDERS OF THE FEW WEAPONS dorms PREFER FOR THIS CARTRIDGE USE OF ORIGIN COMMERCIAL AMMUNITION , ALSO WHY ' LOAD DATA RELATED TO THIS CARTRIDGE IS VERY RARE .

Despite being in the abstract of a good cartridge, the .30 R Blaser is not widely distributed outside of Germany , and VERY rare in Italy or in other European countries . Outside the European continent is, in fact , completely non-existent. The lack of commercial distribution is evidenced not only by the low number of arms sales dorms for this cartridge , but also by the fact that the RWS (note that the company that created it !) Has a catalog , even today, ONLY two types of ammunition with ball 150 (Note the muzzle velocity is 940m / s into the barrel of 600mm ) and 180grs . (Note the muzzle velocity is 860m / s cane 600m ) .

TECHNICAL NOTES (1) - according to some literature sources , optimal charging (NB usually " optimal " means that 100m recharging is able to generate 5 shots of pink with a diameter of 20mm or less !) With the ball 110grs . would consist of a RWS -type TMR pushed by 51.7 grs . dust RWS R -901 ( Large Rifle primer Standard - OAL 78.00 mm). Other sources indicate a dose of R -901 between 53.0 and 57.0 grs . , Always with the same type of ball. Careful experimentation , starting with a dose reduced by 10 % compared to the indicated dose as MINIMUM , allowing you to identify the right dose for your weapon . Always act with the utmost caution and keep an eye out for signs of overpressure !

WARNING !

FOR A REASON FOR EVERYTHING INCOMPRESIBILE , THE FEW INDIVIDUALS THAT THE RECHARGE .30 R BLASER HAVE THE HABIT OF ASSEMBLY PERICOOSA REFILLS MUCH ' COURT OF NORMAL ( NB reflect on the fact that the maximum length of the cartridge is 95.00 mm and that many individuals assembled refills that are sometimes as much as 1 cm shorter , thus meeting at serious risk as the cocnerne comaprsa overpressure !) ALSO USING vERY HEAVY BALLS ( NB and therefore very long !) . FOR SAFETY REASONS , YOU HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO get as close as ' POSSIBLE MAXIMUM LENGTH SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE IT ' THIS WILL ALLOW TO ACQUIRE TWO BENEFITS . THE FIRST AND ' THAT AVOID THE RISK OF SIGNIFICATIVAMENE OVERPRESSURE ! THE SECOND AND ' you approach BEGINNING OF LINES , WHICH WILL ALLOW THE MAXIMUM ACCURACY OF THE TARGET !

I ran into that site when I was looking for 450/400NE data, before the Hornady book came out.
Was helpful, had a lot of data. There is also a copy of the Deva data on the Tirmailly forum out of France.
Strangely enough, one of the local stores has had brass, he is out of it at the moment, but, just brought in a case of 165gr RWS ammo to put on the shelf.

Thank you for sharing information.
I think calibre 30 R is very forgiving when reloading. I have been reloading it since the 90 ties , first for a BBF 95 and then for a K95. Using 3006 load data ,then adding a little more powder. Using what ever component I could get . Mostly disassembling 308 and 3006 ammo. 165 grainers at 2900 fps and 180 grs at 2800 fps. It always shoot straight , no pressure issues. Many game taken. And the joy of having something different that works .
