Hi all,

was wondering today: would it be crazy to make up a few sets (~4) of snap caps for my 500NE, and fill them with sand and buffer, to match the exact weight of the full version, to practice loading with in my office?

Just use normal cases with bullets
and sand in them. much easier to make
up and the correct length etc.

No need to pull the trigger, just simulate it.

If your office is in a Post Office, probably not. You might fit right in.

I don't know if A-Zoom makes .500NE snap caps, but .470NE caps might work, since the 470 is made on the 500 case, and they weigh about the same as a loaded round, and are cheap to buy several to practice with.

As Mac says, get the A-Zoom 470NE snap caps for use in a 500NE. They work just fine. We buy 4 to allow us to practice re-loading.

Anyone else find it goofy that A Zoom doesn't offer the 500 NE? I know the 470 will work but really, if you're willing to offer the 600 and 700 NE you'd think you'd offer the 500. There have to be many times more guys shooting 500's than the 577, 600 and 700 combined.

But 470 works in a 500 where as the others don't
have another option. One less line to make and
inventory. Do that across every product and it
adds up.

I use the 470 A-Zoom snap caps in my 500NE for all my practice.
