Had a very pleasant chap named Martin Owen who took all his game with this classic double. ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

What a great and beautiful old rifle. How anyone can prefer a beavertail fore-end over those classic lines is beyond me. I'll say it again, it's like cutting good bourbon with Coka-Cola.

The double was 100 years old and in superb condition. A 70 yard running shot on the bushbuck and up close and personal on the buff. It made my VC look positively boring. ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

For a second I thought Mark Knopfler has taken up safari hunting... Great rifle and lovely animals. That would make a very complete safari for a simple man such as myself... well done.

The right and proper way to do it. I would like some details about the ammunition, if possible. From the pictures, it appears that the bullets are paper patched.

Sharpsguy, I do not believe they are paper patched,it might appear so,the case neck is necked down from the rest of the cartridge, you can see a picture on the Kynoch home page. DRSS

I think you may be right. A lot of that ammunition was paper patched back in the day. A wonderful rifle and adventure in any case. Congratulations on a wonderful rifle and adventure from northeast Texas.

The "Nitro Express" cartridges were/are not paper patched (at least as factory loaded by Kynoch or Eley). You may be thinking of the earlier Black Powder "Express".....yes, either PP or grease groove.

It was such a small world, a couple months back I gave a short list of guys in Zambia and Moz I would like to hunt with to Martin. You were on the list Andrew. Then I saw your offer for the last buff of the season and a truly great price. About two weeks later, got the message he had booked and was headed out in a week! Couldn’t of been happier and though we’ve never met Andrew, your reputation alone from these forums speaks volumes and I knew he was in good hands. I was thrilled for all parties to see a superb safari was had

Getting off track here a bit. I saw Mark Knopfler in Grand Prairie, Texas in September in concert. The pic above would have been Mark 10-15 years ago. Knopfler is 70 yrs old now. Wanted to see him one more time before he stopped touring. Very special show.

Thank you. I banged this offer on Instagram and was fortunate that Martin took it up. What a fine and unusual fellow. A pharmacist, biker and double rifle hunter. Great hunt and we were up close to buff every day. We came across one buff which we both agreed was one of the best we had come across in our hunting years. But it was not to be. With a double sometimes these opportunities are lost. However, the hunting was compensated by being close up and in your face. That sounds superb. The experience of being in close and hunting them the right way outweighs the trophy every time.

Agreed, Mike. I just had to have one also but it is a Thomas Bland cased hammer double with all accessories. Looked up Col. William Henry Chricton, Viscount of Erne. Interesting gentleman. Love that Army/Navy and that gent knows how to shoot.

My two most favorite doubles were a Jefferys and a Army Navy in 450-400 and my 577 was an Army Navy..They were working rifles and behaved themselves...Back in the day I paid no more than $8500 for a good Army Navy, Jefferys and a couple of others that were the same other than name..Today there is more trash doubles out there than have seen in my lifetime, Why that is I have no idea..Guess folks are keeping the good ones, and maybe the sellers don't know a good double from a junker, cause the price is the same.. No beavertail forends for me in rifle or shotgun.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com
