A number of guns, including doubles, come in hard plastic cases. I use some of them for transporting guns to and from the range and field. I don't worry much about my stainless Ruger handguns, since mine are working guns, not collectors. I do however wonder whether it is wise to transport my nicer guns in their plastic cases. Some like the Chapuis case are pretty handy and nicely organized. The plastic is hard, but feels less abrasive than the foam in many hard cases and the lining in some soft cases.
I suspect that our members probably have some strongly held opinions on this and I'd like to hear them.
Thanks
Bfly

I assemble my doubles and carry them to the range in a soft padded case that you can buy most anywhere for $25 - 50.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I use a specially made leather case to transport my rifles while hunting and to the range. The padding is extra thick and durable.
