Biebs,
Always talking about your ass - I've seen it - nothing to be bragging about, I have to say!

Anyway,
Guillaume Verney-Carron contacted me yesterday and said:
"Your gun is not so far from being finished now." He had a few questions about weight and balance points because "We just want to be transparent about this".That's been the other great thing about dealing with Verney-Carron. Regular contact directly with me (and copied to Ken Buch) to confirm all of my requests and options.
Ken, the Verney-Carron family and I have been in corresponding regularly as the project has gone from idea to near completion. Again always met with "It's your gun, we want
YOU to be happy." heard from both Ken and V-C.
I'm told it should be completed by March but I am hoping for April.

sroseCCMDoc,
Great! I'm sure you will be pleased with it. VC is getting better at building these all the time. I love my 577 and it is back at VC being changed a little. I didn't think I would hunt with the 577 but after shooting buffalo and elephant with it and using the BBW#13s I'll have to say I was very impressed with the power. The 600 NE should be a real hammer with those coffee cups and solids.

CCMDocSam,
Your work with Michael and your results in the field with these bullets have really pumped me up about this trip and this double. I have been pouring over reloading data so that when I have the V-C in hand I will be ready to hit the range with a variety of loads to try.
Thanks Sam - for your work with Michael in developing these bullets specifically for double rifles.
Stay well,

jorgeDoc: How's the Sabbati shooting? As I stated previously, I ordered my VC last month and I asked Ken if it was ok to receive updates and he said he would. I didn't ask them about corresponding with the VC folks directly. I have Jerome Lanque's business card and his contact data, but I wanted to go through Ken. Did you contact them directly? Mine is not as elaborate as your 600, but I am excited nevertheless. How long did yours take? jorge

CCMDocHey Jorge!
The Sabatti is getting a good work out by Michael458 and Sam - testing a whole truck load of different bullets. No functional or technical problems to report.
Regulated well with factory Hornady stuff, Michael is playing with CEB#13 and Non-Cons to see what works and what doesnt.
We should have more info soon about terminal bullet performance, penetration, expansion etc. using both CEB vs. DGS solids and Non-Cons vs. DGX.
As far as correspondence with Verney-Carron, some was through Ken but other times the V-C folk would email me directly and I would respond to them and copy Ken. They were always very gracious in response to all of my questions and requests. I always vopied Ken on anything I sent so that he was in the loop.
As far as the time to completion - exactly 6 months to completion and hopefully I will have it in a couple of weeks so I'd say an honest 7 months from order to delivery.
I am very excited for you as well!

Nemo .450What would YOU call "small"?
You see, my big bore is (or will be) a .450NE, and to me a small bore would be something alond the lines of .333 or .30 caliber.
I wonder what a guy with not one, but 2 .600s would consider a small bore.

A .450NE? or perhaps a .500NE? Or perhaps you want a real pea-shooter, like a .375H&H flanged...

Seriously though, I'm just poking at you Doc. And I don't poke at folks I don't like.

CCMDocI had no doubt you were just kidding with me.

I consider anything above .375 a big bore just like the owner of this site. In fact I've adopted his breakdown of small, medium and big bore.

So, the small bore double we're contemplating would meet Saeed's criteria but be included in the double rifle forum.

Not a chance! For some reason I thought you had moved to Florida but glad you're still around here.
My plan is to have Ken send it to Griffin & Howe so I can pick it up.
Biebs and a couple of others may meet me there when I do.
We'll make plans to take it somewhere to shoot - whether my family place outside of Ellenville, NY or Biebs place here in NJ or maybe your range.
I athink you have my email but if not I will PM it to you and we can set a date for "paper and pumpkin punchin".

Good news and bad news. Good news, I heard, is your V-C cleared U.S. Customs today! Bad news is, in transit, there is a big time crack in the wrist. Perhaps you can run a 1 1/4" #14 screw and it will take care of the issue. If that doesn't work, perhaps a 1/4" bolt with fender washer and nylon nut on the off side. You might consider using stainless steel hardware for future (lack of) maintainance. More good news is by adding the bolt head, washer and nut, the thickness will still yield a perfect fit in the factory custom case.

I'm sure it will be pretty. Please post pix once fixed. We look forward to seeing the result.

You've heard more than I have - I'm trying not to harrass Ken too much.

As far as the cracked wrist - well, I ordered it that way. A little silver duct tape, Gorilla glue and some lag bolts and a nylock should do the trick.

Thanks for the update ...
You can be sure that I will post pics.
