Wife's off at our place in the PA Mountains for a week with her sister. Range day today with the Verney. Sun's over the yardarm (somewhere), so the smoking lamp is lit, followed by some good movies. This one's a good one for doubles! USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

That sounds like a damn fine way to spend a day to me. I might replace the Johnnie Walker Double Black with some Glenmorangie but otherwise sounds about perfect. Mike

Perfect way to spend a bit of the day. For me, I'd be drinking Laphroaig 18 or a Lagavulen 16. However, seems like I am behind on work requests so the wife has me knocking down the list Safari James USMC DRSS

Norwegian, That will do just fine, the Nadurra has great character, I forget the ration of water to scotch for that particular bottle, but these are the best thing I have found.. http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-C...icone+Ice+Cube+Trays Simply, Elegant but always approachable

An old man once told me to never drink Scotch without water, and likewise never drink water without Scotch. For the Nadura, as it is a cask strength, I would rarely go more than a splash (1/4 water to 1 whisky). You will find if you are carefull that the characteristics of the drink have changed dramatically. The Nadura gains excellent "legs" as you swirl it in the glass and you will now see a slightly "oil on water" pearlesque quality to the whisky. It finishes much smoother with this patina on the top of the liquid. Guess its out that I'm a whisky snob. Hair, not Air! Rob Martin

I don't much care for the Nadura, too "syrupy" for me. I really love the "Peaty" single malts, with Talisker my favorite, followed by Lagavulin, Oban and Ahrdberg. Also, the Johnny Walker Double Black, although a blend, is very well laced with Talisker. I agree! When I was growing up in Miami, my dad used to give me a dollar bill and told me to run down to the Padron Factory (a tiny hole in the wall in the mid-60s) and buy him FOUR Padron #2, for a BUCK! I know Mike - have spoken to Mr Murray, but he adviced me to make something in Norway. I have one guy that make horse saddles and he has made a prototype of a belt for me. No one makes this in Norway. Post photo later. The more I know, the less I wonder !

Nope. I do have soe of Dick Murray's closed loop shellholders for my 416 Rigby but for the 450 I have all open loops. On the picture with the lamp and whisky I posted, you can see the one he made me for my 450. Jorge, I was thinking of the canvas Trader Keith belt in the first photo on top. There you see a culling belt in canvas With open loops. You give me the web address to Trader Keith, but I do not find any canvas belt With open loops there. Is it special made for you ? Morten Morten The more I know, the less I wonder !

Thanks Mike, I have already bought the 8 rounder in leather from Bill. I am looking for a 375 belt and it is Trader Keith or the El Paso Company that Jorge came up With. I have been looking at their belt too. For the 450 I have had a belt made for me in Norway The more I know, the less I wonder !

A splash of water really opens that one up and lets it "sing". Straight I didn't find it that special but, that little splash of water really made it great. Scotch!!! One of my favorite subjects. Talisker, McCallan, Lagavulin, Laphroaig are my favorites. However, I recently discovered a very nice peat blend that really favors the everyday Scotch drinking budget a little better; Black Grouse. Cheap but very good.
