Bought a Searcy Left Hand 470 PH Model from a member here who was kind enough to make me a nice deal. I am at the deer lease now posting this after going to the kelechee pit to shoot it for the first time. The recoil was surprisingly horrendus but from 25 yards I hit all the big rocks that I was aiming at and turned them into gravel. Probably four shots per session with full loads will be more than enough. I was wearing a t-shirt so maybe a proper shooting vest or shirt would help. Now it's time to start collecting reloading components so I can start making more ammo for it. I already have three boxes of primers that I won as prizes at the big bore shoot in Juliff a couple of months ago. Thanks again Frank. I really like the rifle. Nothing siisy about wearing a sissy pad for the big bores. Its supposed to be fun, eh? At first, the recoil may seem horrenduous (love your choice of words) and may seem to shake you up to the core, but start with four, add a couple each seession, and soon your shooting 20 at a clip. Lay off long though, and you start over! Congrats, JPK Free 500grains

Good stuff, well done. I agree re pad. Anyone who has a go at you, give them the gun with 10 full power loads and get them to shoot it without a pad !!!

Nothing wrong with stopping after four. I usually get a headache after that number anyway. Just too much abuse for me. ------------------------------- Will / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne.
