I just got a Midland DB in .475 3 1/4 Straight with an extra barrel in .280 NE Flanged..

Do anyone know if the registers for this Company is still available, rumours says they where lost in a fire..?

I would guess this set is made around WW1 but knowledge would be fun..

Do any of you have experience in loading the .280 NE Flanged..?

Unfortunately, the Midland's records were destroyed.

Pondoro;

Please post photos of both barrels proof marks and I can likely tell you when the barrels were proofed. Please make the photos close up and as precise focused as possible. If I cannot determine when they were made I will telephone my colleague Jack Rowe (former Birmingham UK gunmaker) here and see what he can do to date the gun. Jack began his apprenticeship in Birmingham in 1946 and knows a great deal about Midland guns and rifles.

The combination calibers that you have are quite rare.

Steve
