I saw a recent episode of Dangerous Game on the sportsman channel in which Tony Mathis (phonetic) was shooting an elephant with a vintage 600 nitro with 900 grain bullets that fired both barrel at the same time, he was knocked down faster than the elephant. The reason given was the gun was set up for the left barrel to be fired first (rear trigger which was set up at lower poundage), the forward trigger was set at a higher poundage thereby reducing the chance of "doubling" when the rear trigger was fired first. During the episode prior to the doubling Tony sited the rifle and found the right barrel was more accurate and was advised to use that for the first shot not knowing what could happen. For what its worth. Tony was lucky his shot was good and he didn't end up with a broken shoulder or head trauma or eye damage NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy

No offense intended, but it was Under Wild Skies, not Dangerous Game. And Tony Makris, not Mathis.

Drop the frickin net! Shooting ELEPHANT...and the right barrel is more ACCURATE I am not critisizing Tony, but wake up! We're talking about minute of elephant at 20 yards!! Too damn many people getting wrapped around "accuracy" in an elephant gun! Use common sense. Deo Vindice, Don Sons of Confederate Veterans Black Horse Camp #780
