Navy Arms 45-70 Double Value
Hi Guys
What is the rough purchase price of a Navy Arms 45-70 Double Hammer gun today?

Found one here in SA and it looks like it could be a great pig gun.
Cheers
Ian

If it's a Pedersolli Hammergun then 2500-3000.

Thanks Mike

I think it is a Pedersoli, what sort of pessure can they take, could you push it to 458 Win pressures or would that be too much.

IF this is a Pedersolli there have been a few rechambered to the low pressure 450NE#2 but hardly the pressures of a 458 WM.

BUT Keep in mind that those barrels are brazed together and it'd be a major effort to try to re regulate if it's needed after a rechamber.

Good point on the regulation.
Saw a few posts complaining about weight, do you have any idea of the actual weight?

Would you say the browning in 9,3x74 would be a better shooter?
Thanks
Ian

I used to have one in 9.3X74 not a 45-70. IIRC it was a 10# rifle and shot very good.
I've never shot a Browning DR so I can't say about them.

N E 450 No2
My brother had a Pederolosi 45/70 and teh factory sent him the information that it would safely take Marlin 45/70 type loads.

I would NOT recommend 458 Win Mag pressures.

Any idea what the 450 No2 would develop in the way of speeds in that rifle without doing it damage

The 450 #2 will do the same basic speeds as all the others in this range. 480-500 grains @ 2050 fps.
But you're probably going to need to fine tune loads to suit that gun.
