I am all a twitter with excitement.

I have been out of the big bore shooting game for almost two years due to a three level cervical fusion with complications in 2005.

I was finally feeling normal and strong. Yahooo.

That is "was" feeling normal. Because I went and tore the tendon on my right bicep and separated the muscle from the bone.

The orthopedic guys says it'll be a surgery and about 6 MONTHS recovery time.

Not a good choice here though ... and only one for a good longer term outcome.

I know you will have plenty of offers, but just send the rifle down here and we'll keep it from going bad on you, instead of just sitting there in your gun safe!

Good luck with the recovery. That can be a tough one to get over so be patient with it. When you start back shooting get a nice pad of some sort to wear.

Maybe it will be possible to get some snap caps and use the rifle as part of your weight rehab? Just a thought.

I had the same thing, plus rotator cuff repair, 14 weeks ago.

It is a slow recovery, with a lot of physical therapy. But it is getting better.

Well I may not be able to shoot her for awhile but trust me there will be some heavy petting in the mean time..

Bummer surestrike! That does suck. I had a thought to PM you about your back recently too...I never heard if you sorted out your complications, etc. You were worried about ever shooting big bores again, so at least the fact your back is OK is some pretty darn good news!

You and mrlexma have me wondering what the heck you'd be doing to cause that kind of damage to your biceps tendon (and rotator cuff). Ouch.

I wish I knew what I've done in past that caused this to happen because what I was doing shouldn't have caused those tendons to snap.

Since you injured yourself with all the amozons, I will be glad for you to send me your rifle and I will break it in properly for you while you are healing. That way it won't feel lonely. Seriously, get well asap.

What a coincidence!

I was trying to fight off a panting horde of oversexed women when my arm gave out! The cops, firefighters and paramedics had to practically peel them off me.

I think next time, discretion being the better part of valor, I will just surrender.

As for shooting the big bores, I was told it would be six months before I had full range of motion and 80-90% strength, and nine to twelve before a full recovery, if all goes well.

So, being careful, since I never want to go through this again, I figure it will be at least another six months before I shoot anything bigger than a small bore.

You two (surestrike and mrlexma) really oughta read "Zorba the Greek". Then you'd understand that it is your DUTY to surrender to mobs of lusty women. Resistance is essentially a SIN!

Hope you both recover quickly, and remember to yell "be gentle" the next time you find yourself in such a situation.

08:30 On Monday morning. Cut drill &cast...

Then it's time to sit back with the perkies and booze. I do believe that is the recommended pain control therapy in this circumstance.

Watch-out for those "Perkies"...Broke a bunch of bones back in the 80s during an argument with a "Rice-rocket" and had a tough go in getting them to leave me alone! Just 3 weeks on the damn'd things and I was hooked...that never had happened before, or since....Bad stuff pain killers....Stick with the booze!

surestrike, not meaning to cause you any apprehension, but I started with Oxycontin - it did NOTHING for the pain.

Then it was on to Vicodin - if I doubled the recommended dose, I could sleep for a couple of hours. But the nurse practitioner said that wasn't such a good idea.

Finally, after I complained to the doc, he brought out the big gun, Dilaudid, which generally killed the pain and my ability to think straight besides.

Jeff is right, though. That stuff can be habit forming. I quit taking it as soon as the pain let me.

Bottom line is, get what you need and get off of it as soon as you don't need it any more.

Best of luck tomorrow. I had my knee scopped a few months ago to repair lots of damage - nothing you can screw up in a knee was unscathed. No surgical complications though. I cannot imagine what looking to round 2 is like.

You may want to call in RIP - with his set of reamers.

As recommended by MR, take the narcotics in a scheduled and as directed fashion while you need them, and get off them as soon as you can.

Well guys they finished up on me last night and I broke out around midnight. My doc brought in an upper arm and hand surgery specialist (until last night I didn't know that existed either) and assisted him in an anterior single incision approach. A different incision than the one he made on Monday.

In any case they were successful in placing an "endo button" which is basically a toggle bolt that goes through your radius and anchors on the back side of the bone. Then they suture the end of the tendon to the top of the "button" which is actually into the bone marrow. When the hole in your bone heals it does so around the top of the button and the tendon, capturing the tendon and hopefully anchoring the bicep for future use.

I am writing this with 15 mg of percosett on board and with only my left middle finger as my right arm seems to be out of service at the moment.

Oh yeah my new PH model Searcy showed up today. it looks real nice. My loving wife even checked the triggers for me and tells me that "they are just fine, honey.. "

I'll stop now and spare you the further rantings of an opiated gun loony.
