Brazos JackDollar at 19 mo High vs Euro - Will we see Cheaper Euro DR Prices?
OK,
The Dollar is at a 19 month high versus the Euro and headed higher. Will we be seeing commensurate drops in the prices of new Heym's, Chapuis', and Merkel's here in the U.S. soon?

jeffeossoYes .. .just like gas prices, though.. the raise is instant, the decrease is slower..
its an OF COURSE, as only a FOOL would continue to pay 1.58 when the current rate is 1.28(+) .. it hasn't been this strong since november 2004
So, for guns currently in stock (tom's perspective - see that he's advertising a 500 merkel for under 8k) the dealer is underwater in value (not PRICE, not COST.. value) ...
but a broker bringing them into the states will have to pass on the exchange rate, or face angry customers that take their cash to other people...
This kinda means the dollar is nearly 20% stronger...
Just like oil dropping 50% and gas dropping 50%
anyone telling you different is trying to sell you a higher base priced stocked item

Bill/OregonJack: Seems too that the dollar needs to show it can stick at this rate in order to affect long-term buying and selling contract decisions. Be nice if it does, though.

Dave BushJack:
I don't know if the dollar rising against the Euro will do it but I would be willing to bet that the global economic slowdown will cause a dramatic drop in the price of double guns. Demand is already way off. Just sit tight for awhile. I would be willing to bet that some of these guns that sold for $12,000 will be selling for $8,000 or less and watch out for a really, really good price on a used double.

The ShottistAt the World Skeet Shoot in San Antonio, Tx a couple of weeks ago, the prices were already dropping hard on new Perazzis, K-guns and Merkels.
It is definitely a buyers' market for high end firearms.

Lack of Demand my lower the price more than Exchange rate. A local Dealer says he normally averages 40-50 high end shotguns per your only 15 for 2008 and not many in stock.
