Mike, I wanted to send you out this info reference the February Hunt so we can start to book the weekend.

Today I arranged to have extremely huge animals ready for the weekend of February 22-24, European Boar average weight of 400 plus pounds. We have a ton of huge animals now on the property ranging from 250 to 475 most have 2 inch cutters and 5 to 6 inch tusk. Of course the winter coats are starting to form.

Our hunts as you know run $550.00 for animals up to 300 pounds and anything over 300 lbs are $750.00. We will have 4 men to a deluxe cabin and the price is $35.00 per night per man. We will provide Saturday Morning breakfast, Saturday afternoon cold cuts Pizza etc. On Saturday Night we will transport everyone to Hillsboro 20 minute drive to Dakota's restaurant. Each person will pay for each own meal and drinks, Of course we will buy a few rounds.

We expect to hunt Saturday Morning till lunch, a quick rest and out to shoot a big boar or ram. If everyone is having success we will start the competition around 3:00. This will include a variety of things. Bull's-eye competition at 100 yards, poker shoots, steel target shoots and moving targets. A few team relay's will take place with teams attempting to cut in half 4x4 boards and many more.

We will return out on Sunday morning to assist if anyone has not been successful and or if anyone wants a second animal. Depending on the animal and size of animal will determine what discount we will offer on the second animal.

Rough numbers

0 to 300 pound boar $550.00
lodging x2 nights $ 70.00
Total $620.00

meat processing available
$90.00 for complete processing

Thanks Mike talk to you soon Greg Morgan

Jeesch,
I just came through Ohio a few weeks ago....headed home. It's about a 3 day drive from here so I'd possibly be able to get Idaho Sharpshooter to go as well.

Although last time I saw him he was trying to stop flinching from the 550 Whatever he's making. dancing

He's going to the Shot Show sometime around then so mama may want to keep him close to home. Mine may want to do the same Mad

I'd be interested in a hunt, and shoot for double rifles in Ohio! Let us know where and when, once you find out, and where the closest Airport, with rent-a-car, is for those not driving from home! thumb

This is a link to the lodging

http://www.longsretreat.com/

The owners are great guys and the wild boars should have hair and look like bears at that time of year. There is a butcher shop a few miles away .

The area is about 1 hour drive from either Columbus or Cincinnati airport.

Here is a link from my last time there in Aug 07

How about Feb 22-24?

I just talked to one of the owners of Premier Hunting, Gerg Morgan. Greg is a police officer in Cincinnati, he says they will set up the shooting range with everything from ballistic gel targets to a running boar moving targets.
Twelve is about the max number of hunters they can handle.
Greg says they can also help pick up and transfer from both Columbus and Cincinnati airports.

FYI
It is illegal to shoot feral hogs in Ohio.
All game ranches must have papers on their boars. Where we will be hunting the boar are true russian or european strains. Lots of 300 to 400 lb hogs with 2-4 inch teeth

Jim Jim Jim,
Thease are OHIO pigs not Texas hogs. We don't "paper" them we just fier up the BBQ because Hog hunting in Texas isn't a catch and release sport. You can use the papers to wipe your handes when you are done. jumping patriot thumb

Understood. But this isn't catch and release. But that brings up another question. If they don't BBQ the papered pigs in Ohio, they must do something to prepare them. Do they pickle the papered pigs? Do they prepare papered pigs peppered? Or do they pickle and pepper the papered pigs?

I suppose if you poached a peck of papered pigs, you'd need to preserve them. Say if 577 NE went there to hunt. Could Paul pot a peck of of pickled peppered paper pigs?

It boggles the mind!

Is there ANY chance we could do a week before or a week after (or basically any other week than the 22-25???????)

The reason I ask because if it is any other weekend, I can make it. My wife is out of the country that weekend and I would have to stay home and do daddy duties.

Can you please confirm the time table for the hunt?

What time should we arrive into camp on Friday the 15th of February?

And we will hunt in the morning on Saturday, break for lunch, return to the field and hunt until dark or do some shooting is we would rather do that, correct? Then into town for dinner (on us), correct?

Than hunt Sunday AM (if we haven't bagged a hog by that point), than break for home sometime in the afternoon?

Just want to confirm this so I can start planning my time off.

I know you talked to Greg the owner and he told you the same thing. Sorry but it is his property and his decision. It is a hunting property and he is setting up the shoot for those who are hunting there. I have nine guys
coming and he has no accomodations for nonhunters on this weekend.
