I read on another forum that PROPER DR regulation, is for the bbls to shoot bullets that "converge" at a specific range, with a specific load, especially for big bore DR's.

What's your thoughts on this??

The barrels are set to converge to achieve regulation. BUT the bullets should not cross when fired.
During the firing the right barrel whips up and to the right, the left whips up and to the left, so the barrels should be set to cross so the bullets won't do that.
Make sense? Wink

Makes sense! There are two things that are called regulation, One is the menitulation of the barrel conversion, till the rifle shoots properly parallel to each other with the aiming point between them, with the assigned load, the second one is what causes the misconception is the regulating (cutting of the sights to shoot at a certain range.) That second one leads people to think that both barrels are supposed to hit the same hole to that distance. In the literature on a double rifle it is all ways stated this rifle is regulated for 50mtrs, or 100 metrs, all that means is the primary sight is cut to be dead on in the middle of the composite of both barrels, and dead on for elevation at the assigned range.

We don’t have to go anywhere Cross L, just explain what the two forms of regulation mean, so people who do not know will then know!

No need to go any farther with this thread!

The problem that raises its ugly head is some folks get regulation and sighting in confused..

regulation is getting both barrels to shoot together, simple as that..once done you can sight in the irons by filing them to whatever distance you choose within reason.

doubles will cross bullets sooner or later as a rule, but at what range..ideally they shouldn't but mostly they do, but usually out of normal range has been my experience..sometimes they just widen out, its a crap shoot with doubles..they are ment for 50 yard shooting but most are capable at 100 to perhaps 200 yards if you can figure out the drop.
