I wish to share this pre-war Boss I recently finished restocking. The previous stock was split at the wrist during a quail hunt. The gun was set on the side of a horse in a leather scabbard, unfortunately the horse pressed it against the side of a pine tree and snapped it!

This gun has a pretty cool provenance; belonging to the decendents of one of George Washingtons Aides de Camp during the Revolutionary war, whom shared passage in the same craft over The Delaware with Washington. The collection along with the name have been passed down through the family generations.

Enjoy!

So this is the second time this gun has been restocked! Nicely done. Hard to do better than a Boss. Were the case colors and blacking redone as well at some point?

Yes, presumably when it was restocked last.

Aaron mentions in the first post that it was left in the scabbard on a horse. Rooky mistake!

Beautiful. Did you replace the fore end, too, or was it already a good match for the buttstock?

Any chance that broken stock can be salvaged for another long gun of some kind? Not likely, I suppose, but it’s a beauty.

New forend. The old broken stock goes back to the client, so it’s up to them. Unlikely to fit on anything else.
