I want a "drilling" type rifle for Coyote hunting. A Savage Model 24 in 22WinMag / 20ga would be perfect. But I can seem to find one reasonably priced.
I have a Spanish made 20ga side by side. I'm thinking of leaving one barrel as a 20ga and converting the other with a slip in barrel to 22 WinMag.
Do you think a modern Spanish 20ga SxS can handle the pressure of a 22 Win Mag?
Do you think this idea is insane?

Yes your spanish shotgun can have a Krieghoff "insert" bbl. installed in it. And then if you like, you can have sights put on it too.

I've got an old Rem. S&S that i got from my dad, and i did just that with it. I just aim down the rib for the 22WMR, and out to 40 yards or so, it was good enough for body hits on small game.

Go over to the cobmination gun forum, and you will find lots of info in the insert bbls.

This company makes all different inserts, haven't used them myself but was planning on getting 45-70 insert for a 12

Thanks, I saw those inserts but I can't get much information about them. I believe to unload a spent round you need to remove the tube and use a cleaning rod to knock the shell out?

I'm not sure how accurate they are after you remove and replace the insert.

The Kreigoff(sp?) tubes look great. But I believe they are specific to a Kreigoff shotguns and drillings? If I understand correctly, these tubes offer regulation and they have extractors.

Those "other" inserts are toys compared to the Krieghoff insert.

The Krieghoff rim fire Inserts can be put in most any shotgun. I have one i use in my old Remington S&S, and it works perfectly.

BTW, i have some of those MCA inserts too...

Thanks. I also contacted EAA and they still have the inserts available for their Bakail IZH MP213. They sell for $159 and have an ejector.

I sent them an email to see if they would fit another type of shotgun.

Last year, Sportsmans Outlet was selling the EAA inserts. But they are out of them now.
