I shot this Black Wildebeast in Namibia on May 16 with my Heym 450/400 at about 80 yards. I plan on posting a trip report this weekend.

Congratulations 450/400, if you haven't already done so you will learn that you will never be happy without a 450/400 double rifle, and that PH Heym is top of the line of new double rifles!

Very nice black willie as well! That is one animal I haven't taken, and have always wanted one, but they simply do not exist where I have done most of my hunting in Africa! thumb

Thanks! I bought it with the intention of hunting buffalo on my next trip, but it came in just before I left for Namibia and had to take it with me. There was no way I was going to Africa and not take it.

That is certainly the first Black Wildebeast taken with a HEYM 450/400.

I guess I'll have to get you a plaque for your wall. Smiler

PS - Beyond the obvious results, how did the Hornady Soft Point perform?

Good point AzGuy!

The Hornady soft point worked like the hammer of Thor. That's all I can say. It's somewhere burried in the Namibian sand.

Unfortunatly it isn't - you left about a month too late to claim that title.

The first African animal taken with one was a bull elephant last month.

BUT, I am 100% certain that you have the first Black Wildebeast.

For some reason I doubt Heym made a 450/400 before a few months ago, and certainly not in the last century! Wink
