I may know the bloke you write of. If is MG, have him email me as I have a few rifles I'm selling.

Two years ago a H&H Royal .500 sold for 115K. That was the last one I saw.
Cheers,
Cal

Check with H&H in New York I was in there the other day they had a couple of New Round Body's both in 500 3" I believe.
they also had a few used guns but they were in 500-465 and 470 they had a 404 Jeff and a 500 Jeff both by Jeffery and one of their 465 bolt guns
they might have some thing set aside or know of someone that has a 500.
Good luck

There was an AR member a while a go (Hollywood connections?) who was a Double rifle "expert". He got a new 600 NE Wesley Richards made a couple of years ago for a specific elephant hunt.

He swore that he would never get a H&H above 470 cal because they went off face very quickly. He even challenged H&H to make one that stayed on face and he would buy one.

HUMMMMM, very interesting. I had not heard that of H&H Royals??

Any other experience out there with the Heavy Caliber H&H Royals shooting off face?

Thank you for heads up!

Cheers,

Nakihunter- I have called three very well known double rifle experts, two gunsmiths, one broker for input on your comment. I also received comments on same subject from our well known author in OZ-

Only old pre-WWOne or turn of Century rifles with softer steel that were originally BPE rifles and re-proofed to NE....bad decision!! Also of someone with a 500 BPE inadvertently or knowingly put a NE cartridge in one....trouble!!

Obviously, shot enough, any double will come off face....but it is a VERY easy repair to resolve that problem. I know of an Atlanta fellow who has put probably over 1000 rounds through his H&H Royal with full loads....tight as a vault!!

Hope that resolves any question about integrity of these fine old rifles!!

Cheers,

If your pal is still looking please PM me. I was at the H&H factory yesterday and have had a positive response to the inquiry.
