double rifle and point blank range.
I am having a double made up by Butch. One of the calibers is 375 Flanged Magnum. If one wants to sight the irons in for 300gr. North Fork CPS and FNS, and sight the scope in for 270 gr. North Fork soft points, what will be the useful range with the scope for a bullet traveling 2600+ f/s? Will the rifle be more like a single shot at that point? Will the divergence of bullets limit the rifle to being a single shot rifle or will one still have a useful grouping out to say 200 yards?

As velocity increases beyond the regulation velocity, bullets are likely to cross. In contrast with what you are trying to achieve, I have gotten lighter bullets to regulate when I pushed them at a lower velocity than the standard bullet. If your 270 grain bullets cross, as I expect they will, then it will occur inside of 50 yards and the rifle with that load the rifle will only be useful to 75 or 100 yards. I would suggest that you consider the NF 300 grain soft at the same velocity as you will use for the FN.

Talk with Butch and ask him this question, directly. There are 2 basic concepts around regulation.. Crossing at a given distance or parallel forever...

I believe Butch favors the later.

I talked to Butch today and he does indeed believe in the parallel trajectory. I will send him some bullets to regulate the rifles with. I can hardly wait.
