I went with the C&H dies and have been happy with them. I think they were about $250 including the trim die.

Having used C&H dies before, and recognizing that the RCBS dies are only $20 more, I would go with the RCBS dies. I just feel that they are a much better made product. Plus RCBS's lifetime warranty is great, if something breaks, call them and a replacement is in the mail that day.

Agreed. I used C&H dies for reloading a 50 cal. They did a good job. When I moved, they were stored in grease for the move. Long story short - all of them were badly rusted. My RCBS, Hornady and Redding dies did not have one spot of rust on them. All dies were packed in the same box.

I soaked the C&H dies in Evaporust for a couple days, (which by the way is great stuff) got all the rust off. A week later they started to rust again.

I now own a set of RCBS dies in 50 cal.

Hornday made me a set of custom dies from once fired brass for (if I remember right), $185. They may have standard dies coming out with the intro of their ammo and Ruger's #1 chambering. bob

Cheers, $268US =$335AU = a lot better then $500AU as quoted.
It sounds like RCBS followed by HORNADY are the best options.

Adam.

All of my DR dies are RCBS. They've been making dies for the flanged nitro rounds for ages, so they're usually right the first time. I've never had a problem with off the rack RCBS dies in the DR calibers. I've only tried CH dies twice. Neither set could be made to work.

I have Hornady dies in other calibers and like them. Hornady has put a lot of effort into their .450/.400 project, and I'm sure their .400 dies will be good as well.

I will never use C&H again, they made me a set of .470 dies and they wouldn't even work and all I got was an arguement that the rifle was poorly chambered, no one but him used the correct specs, not searcy, not RCBS, just him...

I got my money back less a 20% restocking charge?????? and that did not set well. I bought a set of RCBS and never looked back, they worked like a charm..I lost all regard for C&H...
