Gents:

I don't know where this should go but I'm hoping some double rifle men may have an English case for a bolt rifle. If placing this here is incorrect, the moderator will move it.

I seek a full length English rifle canvas case—interior dimension of at least 46 inches. A case like this would have been for a non takedown bolt action rifle. Why do I want it?

In 1987 I purchased a Holland and Holland sighted model 1876 Winchester in .50-95 express. It was cased with tools and accessories. I kept the tools and sold the rifle in 1996. I saw the rifle for sale in 2018 on the internet, recognized it immediately as the one I owned, and purchased it back. However, the case and accessories were gone.

I don’t expect the rifle to fit the partitions in the case but that is no worry as I can do the fitting. All I really need is a case that is solid and good shape and will take a rifle with an overall length of 47 inches. By solid I mean good corners with straps and a (hopefully) working lock. I will fit the rifle to the case, make my own partitions, cover all with felt, obtain a proper Holland and Winchester labels, fit the original tool and mould I retained, and fit an oil bottle and cleaning accessories.

Is one out there that perhaps you don’t need? What say you, fellas?
Thanks for looking,
Cal

Cal,

Maybe try Steve Bertram. He usually has a few vintage cases.

Hello Cal,

You might try Ebay - There are a lot of cases sold there at very reasonable prices. I picked up this 1970s Winchester case for $90 and customized it to fit my 275 Rigby Take-Down. Its not as Vintage as I would have liked, but it will do nicely until a better case comes along.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, fellas. I have tried Steve B. and the case he did have was a bit too short. Same as with eBay--cases but too short.
One's out there somewhere.
Cal

Hello Cal,

Sorry, I miss-read your request. I see now it says "non" takedown.

I found a case on ebay for my 505 Gibbs.

.... and bought another from Jeff's Outfitters for this Miller 450 Double Rifle.

Cal,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
You might call Kirby Hoyt at Vintage Doubles in Wenachee, WA.
He usually has a broad range of proper vintage cases.
