Anyone have any first hand experiences with these rifles? Not looking for comments about the Valmets this rifle replaced.
Considering buying one in 9,3x74R.

As you know, I have one. Happy to answer any questions you may have. I have tested it out to 100 yards so far. Very accurate (both barrels). I just bought some mono metals from the Cutting Edge Bullet folks so that is my next project.

Any issues with the rifle? What style stock do you have and how does it fit you if you use the factory irons?
Which model do you own? Thanks

512 SD. I have a picture posted somewhere (recently). You might want to look under Combination Guns as well. I don't use the irons as I have a scope with QD mounts (which I keep mounted).

Thanks Peter,
How are the triggers? Do you buy the rifle from Russ Gould?
How do you like the bright finish on the receiver?

No, actually I didn't. I think I bought it from GunBroker. Sorry I can't remember. I like the way the receiver looks. I don't know how it would fare "in the wild". It is certainly easy to keep clean! I have had no issue with the triggers one way or the other. Just haven't noticed them!

I have one with a 12 ga set along with a 9.3x74 set.Double triggers.

I have shot snipe, ducksj geese, cow elk and wild bore with it. Since I got my double it has't been out much. Sometimes I even think of selling it. I do like it though and its a great set to throw in the trunk when heading out of town. Its a much nicer rifle than the valmont. Get the center rib and scope mount.

Russ Gould who post here sold me mine. I was please with the deal.

I rarely disagree with JD on anything, but I do on the Valmet vs; Finn Classic! Though both are fine hunting rifles, and shotguns, It is my opinion the Valmet lost some quality when they became the Finn classic. In some ways the Finn is better mainly in design features, but enternal fitting and precision is better on the old Valmet IMO.

I had an old Valmet 412 with a barrel set chambered for 375 Winchester. It shot fine but I only bought it to re-chamber to 375 JDJ and with it's 1-12" twist worked like a charm, and after re-regulating it was a 200 yd killer on muledeer. I still have one of the old Valmet 12 ga shotguns that is the best dove gun I own, and two for two on pass shooting, ore walk-up on quail are a snapp! Though I own shotguns that cost sever thousand dollars, none of them can hold a candle to this old Finnish Lion extractor double shotgun in the field, and I paid only $110 US dollars for that shotgun over 40 yrs ago.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Finn Classic, and since I can't buy the older Valmet, if I wanted another O/U double rifle the Finn Classic would be my choice over some of the more expensive rifles in the same chamberings.

I should have said more handson rifle not better

I have only seen two valmonts and they reminded me of the old fox shotguns that were built stout but plain. The 512 with the center rib is quite handson. I looked for a 375 barrel for a while, I understand you can get near 375 hh performance out of it.
