Ken, I did not have my calipers handy, but with a ruler it looks like .60". I will hit it again with the calipers in a little while.

Hello Ken:

Distance between the two front set of screws (away from receiver) is .87" CTC. on the back set is .60" CTC. The distance between the farthest two screws on the rib is 3.20" CTC. Using a dial caliper

Hope that will help.

It does help, thanks.
It appears that the Chapuis bases have the same hole pattern. On the Chapuis guns a block is removed from the rib and the mounts sit close to flush with the top of the rib. It appears that the Sabatti does not use blocks (I do not remember and do not have a example of the Sabatti to look at) but it would sit on top of the rib.
If the base was .030" would you be able to see the open sights?

Ken: I believe the Sabatti's come with just a Picatinny type rail that screws onto the rig. jorge

Yes, if the base was ..030 high, you would still be able to see the sights. The rear sight notch is .200 off the deck on my .450NE. It is a Weaver rail that sits on top of the quarter rib. (I have one) Picatinny rails have specific slot sizes and locations, which is what makes it a Picatinny rail. I used to work with those ARDEC engineers at Picatinny Arsenal and I know they just ripped off (ok, they borrowed the idea) the 1930s era Weaver base idea and put dimensions on it and called it theirs.

Ken, do you mean 0.3"? If they are 0.03 yes you will be able to use the open sight s on the rifle, by the way that is a mighty thin base. I was corrected very gracefully by dpcd on my decimals which I did correct in my previous post.

Yes you will be able to see the sights and shoot with open sights with no problem if you use the weaver base that is supplied with the Sabatti rifles; I just set the scope base on the rail and checked it out. The thickness on the Sabatti base is .210", so if your bases are .30”, I doubt you will be able to see the bottom of the v notch, because it will be higher by .1”.

Ken,

The Sabatti base is just a rail the sits on top of the rib. I'll measure to hole spacing if you need it. I can also email you photos if you like.

Yes, but it does have edges on both sides that, when mounted, fit over both edges of rib, while central portion fits flush with rib. Too, Sabatti scope mount piece has a slight design change on later versions, compared to earlier versions. Both versions easily allow seeing the iron sights without problems--I never did permanently mount any on my Sabatti rifles, but I did try them, to see if one could still see the iron sights.

Ken:

I don't think with the .231" thickness you will be able to see the bottom of the V notch but you can still shoot with the open sights from knowing how much the front bead cover of the V notch, if you know what I mean. Something one has to become accustomed to.

Ken,
I'm not sure why you need to know this info. My Sabatti .470 came with a Weaver/Picatinny style base. It is low enough that I can still see the irons when the base is mounted. One thing I did was to have the rib holes opened up to 8X40 thread, and the mount drilled and counterbored for same. I use a Trijicon RMR, and it works well for me. Love my Sabatti, BTW.
Best regards,
Tim
