Glad you are all right, Cal. Some of the images I am seeing, especially of road damage, remind me very much of the damage from the Good Friday quake in 1964.

Thanks, gentlemen.
MAC: I will only do that if I can include a check to compensate you for your time and effort in keeping my rifles safe.

Rumor is that the seismic event occurred just after Cal was test-firing his 600 Wilkes :-)

Really, Jon?
So tell me, if my .600 would do this to Alaska, what would happen if I touched off a few rounds in New Jersey? Would the state slide off into the Atlantic?
Just wondering.
Cheers, mate.

………………………………….OK you can just make that check out to $1.00 for the first ten years! By that time my wife will have to ship them back because I will be in the happy hunting grounds, and my wife doesn't take care of fire arms that well! I'll try to teach her if you need them here longer! Big Grin

…………………………..Glad to hear you are OK!

Cal I imagine you have a special gun inspection routine in place you activate after an earthquake, the effect of the violent movement back and forth on your heavy doubles would see the barrels too heavy to keep up with the actions and thus banana bend Big Grin

Like you guys we have had our share of some big quakes over the last couple of years, can be pretty unsettling as you don't know once they start just how big they will be. Our scientists are predicting a devastating magnitude 8.0+ quake in the next couple of decades as our Alpine fault ruptures right down the middle of our South Island where I live. Apparently we have had such a quake every 300 odd years and are due for the next. My luck I'd be on a tahr hunt in the middle of our alps when it happens. Exert below from a news article.

"Most New Zealanders alive today will still be alive when the Alpine Fault rips in a magnitude-8 earthquake, leading scientists say".

Thanks, gents.
My doubles were in the safes so no oworries there. A few lesser guns and rifles were resting on the floor when I came home but none were damaged.
