Doc52Random Thoughts... What country is your double rifle from???
France and it's people, are not the the problem! It's the polititions that write the checks, they are the ones to hold accountable!
We are entering new ground here. The whole financial stability of our nation has been compromized by the $900 Billion bailout by our own Government! When are we, As a nation going to wake up and smell the coffee!!!!! And say Enough is enough!

Omnivorous_BobTo answer the question at hand: England, England, England, England, and finally, England. I’d love to own a Chapuis if they were stocked and styled a bit differently.
I expect every country to look out for its own national interests first and foremost, but even having said that, some actions taken by the French Govt (NOT the French people) in the last 15 years, have sadly been down right despicable and deliberately put non-French people at unnecessary risk. I'm not surprised they view us the same way. Based on our common heritage and history (late 18th century revolutions, opposition to Great Britian, two world wars, Mideast interests, Indochina, etc) one would hope we would have a 'special' relationship akin to that the US and Great Britian enjoy. It by no mean means we're always right, just that we share many more interests than not. Just my 2 cents.

SnowwolfeMine is the Frech Chapuis as well and I have no strong feelings either way to like or dislike the French or what they produce.
If it was not for Dale offering his group buys of these rifles I could not of afforded to buy one from any country.
I feel fortunate that I was able to get a great double at a really nice price and the rifle was built to my specs seeing I am left handed.
Happy shooting.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

DuaneBTwo Chapuis, both have had problems. Still good buys for what you get IMO. Had I thought way ahead, I might have done differently and bought a different rifle with two (or three) barrels than the Chapuis, then again, maybe not. All of the anti-American feelings are not French Gov't. My wife has relatives in the area adjoining Switzerland, Austria, etc. They still think that if the Americans had stayed out of WWII that the Germans would have simply "passed on through" and not done any damage, etc. Strange, but true. AtkinsonI'm, not at war with any country but the Alquida and Talaban as far as I know..
As to the French made Chappius, I believe they are a country that producse inferior firearms. I would not own one.
In the USA I want a Searcy. They are tough and they all shoot small groups.
My favorite foriegn double rifle is the German Francotte of yesteryear followed by the good working guns of English make such as the Jefferys, Army-Navy, and of course the high dollar English guns that I can no longer afford nor feel comfortable hauling around the world in airlines that love to trash them...

flmthrwrDoubles from England,England and England. Now so expensive I'm a little paranoid about taking them anywhere.
Ray, one trick I have been doing for twenty years is to use a flat case for two rifles and put some guitar stickers on it whenever I fly. Never had a problem since !! Fender stickers and a few fragile ones have done the job so far.And very few marks on the cases too. Free from any good music store near you !!
