For anyone who might be interested in a stainless Searcy rifle, Cabelas has an attractive Searcy stainless double in .470 listed.

I think they listed it as a field grade, but it is very nicely engraved and has great wood.

If that's a Field Grade, Butch must have been in a generous mood that day :-)

Very nice!

Damn, what pretty wood. If I didn't already have one Searcy in .470, I would be tempted.

Butch only made a few of the all stainless doubles and unless he's made one lately this one is a rare duck.

These were made with Alaska in mind, but at that time the hunters in Alaska were not into double rifles, so they bdidn't sell well. Butch said he wouldn't be makeing another one, but may have made this ons asa "ONE-OFF" for a friend, if not then this is a buy for sure because of the rarity, the price is a bargain basement red tag sale.

If I didn't already have a 470NE double rifle I'd jump on this one because I still hunt coastal Alaska a lot where the bigest brown bear live, and salt air is just like acid on blued steel.

Always wanted a stainless double and that's a real beauty.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for my bank account) it is a caliber in which I have zero interest.

Doc and Sam,

Man, I agree with both of you guys 100%.

It's a very pretty rifle and I certainly think a Searcy is still in my future. On top of that, Stainless! How awesome in a double and with excellent wood to boot.

But I just have zero interest in any 470. A 500 for sure! I've said it before but with the 500, you get so much more in terms of performance without a corresponding increase in weight or recoil.

This gun will certainly make a nice addition to someone's collection. I wish Butch would make a few more in SS.

As much as I hate to say it, put a synthetic stock on it and you would have a great hunting double with no worries of messing it up. A true working gun.

Peter,Butch Searcy doesn't make his rifle with de-cocking systems! His rifles are as treditional as they come!

Your right Tm, I almost bought one when he first built them, because at that time I was hunting Alaska every year, down south and west of Katmai Ntnl Park where the big coastal browns live in abundance!

This thing would be perfect for Alaska's rain, salt air and brown bears! If I were not overloaded with double rifles I'd be on the phone as we speak! I really should buy it anyway, and sell my 470 double because I will do far more hunting in Alaska that Africa at my age! Perfect for the coastal islands!

I had the opportunity to shoot the rifle a couple weeks ago. The triggers are sweet and it was a treat, to say the least.

Did you buy it? Or did someone you know in Alaska pick it up?

I did not purchase the rifle. It is owned by a family member who recently purchased the Searcy and a Chapuis, both in .470 NE and is urging my son-in-law and I to take them along on our hunt scheduled for May, 2013.

I have Butch's SS 470NE it has the synthetic stock totally utilitarian, along side my othe searcy beutiful blue and georgous wood both have SS recievers. The blue with wood has a full elephant engraved on the bottom metal. Even tough both are different I love both. The synthetic stocked full SS barrels and reciever despite not having wood is great, I have a tough time deciding which too use. Butch has offered to put wood on and check/upgrade internals but honestly I've decided to leave it alone
