If you need brass for this cartridge, you need to act. I've been looking for brass and finding everybody is sold out. I decided to call Hornady to find out when they have another run of this brass scheduled. What they told me is that they have declared this to be obsolete. I was then told that they have some on hand. They didn't tell me how much they have, but I ordered 10 boxes. If you need some, you should call Hornady. The number is 800/338-3220. When you get the recorded greeting, press "0" for the operator and ask for Sales. Good luck.

Thanks!

I just bought some and I don't even have a 450/400 3 1/4 anymore but what the hell, probably will have one again someday.

I spoke to Steve at Dallas and he told me that they never intended to produce the 3 1/4. I bought all the Jamison that Midway had (28 boxes) as they discontinued them. Hornady doesn't list the 3 1/4 though. Get it while you can.

Hi,

Live in Sweden and own a Webley & Scott .450/.400 3 1/4 N. E. double. Is it possible to order from Hornady and they would ship to Sweden? I need some 100 cases.

Else, Is it possible to form .450/.400 3 1/4" cases from .450 3 1/4" cases without wrecking 50% of the cases?

Cheers

Yes, but you'll need case forming dies. Or just use the sizing die. It's not much of a process and should work smoothly.

If Hornady won't ship to Sweeden, order the brass and have it sent to my address and I will forward it to you. 100 rounds will fit in a medium flat rate box and postage to you is about $80. We can make a plan for you to wire the postage costs to. me.

Cal, I'm not 100% certain you can forward that brass to him without an export license. I may be wrong on this but I seem to remember a couple of discussions previously about sending ammo components overseas. Might want to check into it to be sure.

Thanks, Todd. You may be correct. I'll ask around. If I can't post them, perhaps the buyer can have them sent to a friend at SCI or DSC and can hand carry them home.

Cal,
The hangup is the USA being a signatory to the ITAR. You will run afoul of the Feds if they catch you shipping even unprimed brass.....that’s how Jamison/Captech was caused to be closed down.

Check with knowledgable firearms import/export specialists.

I know that I used to buy a lot of custom dies direct from RCBS until after 9/11 when there was a form sent that did not allow dies to be sold out of the country or some such. I don't recall the actual wording just the gist of the message.

Just a heads-up for those who are interested. I decided to purchase a few more boxes of this brass, so I called Hornady to order it. While I had them on the phone, I asked how much they have left. She told me they have about 200 boxes, so if you have a rifle in this chambering, here's your chance to stock up. It may be a long time, if ever, before somebody makes more of this. Good luck.

Do you think Jamison/Captech will ever open again and make more brass? I sure do need some of the brass they used to make. Their website is still up, so I have hope they'll start up again. If anybody has any info about this I hope they'll share with the group. TIA.

It appears doubtful.

The equipment was auctioned.
Apparently most of the lots were picked up by a single bidder with a few others picking up some lots.

Robertson brass of Montana, RCC on the web, wil make you what you want. But the prices! 2-4x what Rocky Mt. Cartridge charged. RMC is still in bulsiness but is being sold so I would be aware that sending money to a closing company may not be the best thing to do.
Cal
PS.
I used lots of lathe turned brass and had no problem wiht straight cases. The bottleneck cases split at the neck so badly I stopped using them a couple of decades ago. I don't know the quality or RCC, but wiht the prices I wonder if they make cases from gold or brass.

The 450-400 3 1/4 is pretty obscure caliber nowadays but I recommend you to contact this company https://huelsenmanufaktur.de/p...s/sonderanfertigung/ to check if they would be willing to produce it… From what I heard, they are producing high quality brass. My colleague ordered there 8x65RS brass…

I think it's Roberson Cartridge Company and they are in Amarillo, Texas. I've shot their brass and I'm on 20 reloads on them with no signs of head wear. It may be more expensive for the initial purchase, but the cost is offset by the reloads.
