For those of you that are into such things, they are auctioning a few cracking double rifles. Daniel Fraser .577, Army&Navy .577, a beautifully engraved H&H dominion (the ones I have seen only really had border engraveing), several royal H&H, and a Lancaster .450-400 hammer gun. It will be interesting what the Lancaster goes for. It is beautifully cased. Of other mention is an awesome Hoffman Mauser in .505 Gibbs.

Anyone can say what the asking price for that one was and what it sold for? Can see a dealer is selling it for 65K (lowered 10K recently)

As well as shipping and tax. My $6,000.00 bid on last double rifle cost $7,000 with juice, tax and shipping. Well worth it for what I consider an $18,000 rifle.

This is a perfecdt example why I buy a few rifles each year at auctions but NEVER sell at auctions.

I went to $22k on the Lancaster .475 no. 2 then dropped out. It went for $25k, $28,500 with juice.

The Lancaster 450-400 went for $13k right out of the box and hammered down at that price.

I did get the Farquharson 450 3 1/4 and contacted the original maker and owner. Will be putting a story together for Double Gun Journal.

Colin: I had never seen a "Funeral Model" double rifle. They built shotguns in that configuration but I had never seen a rifle. I need that color case.

Looking forward to Amoskeag's June auction.

Good choice, Cal. That Manton had a great description. A bone crusher.

I have wanted a heavy 10 for some time to fill the gap between the 12 and the 8 + 4. It should arrive shortly and I will do a chamber and bore cast, get a mould, and do some loading to get a good group.
The tools and case sold me on the rifle.
