Since my last date I installed 2 recoil reducers. I took out the lead and put in a 5/8"x 7" one that weighed the same, took out the steel rod in the bolt hole and replaced it with a recoil reducer. I drilled a hole between the two and put back 1/2 of the lead rod. The rifle now balances a lot better, just enough weight forward to swing well and come up fast. I worked the triggers, they both now break at 3 3/4 lb. I filed the front sight to a more forward slop. The sight picture is much improved. I polished the sharp edges on the triggers and trigger guard until they no longer felt sharp. I did not bleed today at all. I moved my targets back to 75 yards. 77 gr of rl 15 with 375 gr hard cast 6 shots 4 into a bug hole about a 1". & 2 flyers about a 1 1/2" out. 75.5 gr of rl15 and 400 gr hornadays. 3 from the right barrel were touching 3 from the left were crossing about 3" right and stringing up and down in a straight line. Next time out I will try 70 grs. Is that 400 gr hornady pistol bullet tough enough for wild boar. I am worried it won't hold up. I know the hard cast will. If I can just find away to do away with the fliers. JD DRSS 9.3X74 tika 512 9.3X74 SXS Merkel 140 in 470 Nitro

Damn, dude, you're making much more progress than anyone else who's starting on his first DR. Nice going. According to some who use the Hornady 475 Linebaugh, it works pretty well out of a DR. Lo do they call to me, They bid me take my place among them in the Halls of Valhalla, Where the brave may live forever.
