I have a bag of Rigby 470 brass but have not loaded any of it yet. I was suprised at how heavy it is compared to Norma (about 43 grains heavier).

Who has used Rigby brass in their 470? Have you loaded it lighter than Norma? How did you like it?

Didn't someone just say recently it is/was Bell brass?

Thanks Will. I did a search back and think it must be the same. It is stamped Rigby however.

Nevertheless, I think that tells me what I needed to know. Butch told me to load Bell brass one grain lighter than Norma.

I have used the Rigby brass extensively in my 450/400 3".
I bought it from Buffalo Arms and they told me it was made by Bell. Some of my practice rounds have withstood over a dozen full power reloads with no failures yet.

Palmer,

I've used it exclusively in my 470. It was made by Bell, never tried any other brand so I can't comment.

I will share I am on my 8th loading with no case failure at all. I'm very pleased with it.

I also have the same Rigby/Bell brass in 450/400 and am pleased with it as well.

Thanks gi and 470Evans

for passing on your good experience with it. I have had this brass for two or three years and have never loaded it, thinking it would be inferior to Norma - evidently I should have tried it sooner.

The "Rigby" head stamp was some of the last runs of "BeLL" brass that were made by MAST on the "BELL" machines that they owned. They made runs that I know of in 500, 470, 450/400 3 inch and 375 Flanged. I consider it "BeLL" Brass

The machines as we all know were sold to Jamison

The last batch of .470 brass I bought from directly from BeLL on closeout as they were moving was marked "Rigby." Have been very pleased with it.

ditto the above 2 posts.

The last Brass made by Bell / Mast was marked Rigby.

It doesn't really matter what is stampled on the bottom, everybody makes everything for everyone nowadays.

I think even Winchester made some Remington Brass a few years ago ? or the other way round ? and it will occur more and more in the future.

Kynock / Bertram is another example !

Bell/Rigby 365.3 gr.
Jamison 327.1 gr.
Federal 318.3 gr.
