I was wondering what you all think of the 500 Hambusich at Champlains. Or if you know who owned it ? Shoot first. Never trust horses or women and very few mules.

Jeesh give it some time. Some one will know about it I'm sure. NRA Life ASSRA Life DRSS Today's Quote: Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. bullwaller It is Champlins by the way. It's also always good if you want help to make it easy for the people you are asking instead of them having to do the searching for it. Like providing a direct link to the gun itself. http://www.champlinarms.com/De...StyleID=3&GunID=2547 Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

Initial thoughts from a quick look. It is a heavy gun that would need to balance well so that it didn't feel like a lead weight in your hands. I had two that are same weight, one felt "light", one felt like a railway sleeper. Interesting that he doesn't mention balance ! It is also a big gun. The stock is thick around the wrist so if you have small hands, it might be harder to grip than others. Gun will be built like a brick shytehouse. Solid. Sounds like a shooter. Champlins tend not to BS and have good back up. Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

Texans are known for many things but patience is not one of them. Nothing personal as I do not know the OP; I do know several Texans, however and they tend to want it now, big, and fast. Come to think about it, who wants stuff later, small, and slow?

Good looking gun but I would hate to lug that sucker around all day! Pushing 13 lbs would be a killer. DRSS Sabatti 450\400 NE Merkel 140-2 500 NE

Thank you all so far. I can barely turn this thing on much less show a link or such. I have a 450-400 WR I was thinking of trading for the 500 since I will be hunting elephants and buffalo next year in Zim. Shoot first. Never trust horses or women and very few mules.

bullwaller Understand ! Didn't realise. A 450/400 will kill an elephant, no worries. Just not quite a stopper. Personally, I wouldn't trade a WR 450/400 for that 500 Nitro unless you really fell in love with it and it felt great and balanced in the hands. I am reasonably used to carrying a 13lb gun in 35 - 45 degree heat and not nearly as far as you are likely to or might carry it after elephant judging by the reports on here. unless of course you are superbly fit but I don't know your circumstances. That's just my HO. Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

I am very fit horseback other wise not so much. I have a 458 double made in Austria that I will probably take ,just like the looks of that 500. Shoot first. Never trust horses or women and very few mules.

your 400 will work wonderfully as will the 458 If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

I wonder if that's Harpreet Brar's rifle. A friend bought it when Harpreet had his 577 made, but wound up preferring his Blaser over the double.

If you want a 500 I have both a VC 500 and VC 577 for sale. A lot less weight and money. Sam
