Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

This is my 2 cents worth on the Sabatti, that I have just received in Moz,

It is without a doubt the ONLY double I could afford, and really not at that.

It is NOT a " English " quality gun , but then again I COULD NOT THEN HAVE A DOUBLE !!!!!

The gun has by n ow had just under 50 rounds through it - not a million - BUT NOT ONE HICCUP, OR EJECTOR PROBLEM !!!

I have shot William Evans, Holland , Merkel, Krieghoff, Rigby and Heym Doubles, the Sabatti also goes bang when I pull the trigger at a fraction of the cost of the above mentioned -

SO ONCE AGAIN AFFORDABLE DOUBLE !!!!!

No one has claimed the Sab too be the one and only possibility out there, but sure as hell gave a lot of us that could not think (and had too cancel a order for a Heym 500 cause the hunting truck burnt out) they will ever be able too get a double in their lives, the oppurtunity too acquire one.

Clients with Heym, and Merkel has both commented on the fact that for the price paid, a damn good gun, and the Merkel owner said the metal work on the Sabatti was BETTER THAN HIS MERKEL !!!!!

So let's start the Cheaper Than Shit Double Rifle Club - All Sabatti owners welcome

So, will you include Baikal owners or do they have to start the "Cheaper Than Cheap Shit Double Rifle Club" ? rotflmo

Kwan: great report for us "double trash" (but fiscally-wise) Sabbati owners. I've put about 80 rounds through mine with no issues and acceptable 2"@ 50M accuracy. Please do keep us updated from the field as you put your rifle through the paces of life in the bush. jorge

I will bet my Baikal 30 06 with it's 3 pound crisp trigger pull ($100 job) is more accurate than any double rifle, period. 4 shots, two from each barrel, into a 1 1/4 inch circle at 50 yards.
There is room for all doubles at both end of the price range in my safe.

If sabatti made a lefty double I would own one.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

My Sabatti 9.3x74 is a good shooter too.

Gentlemen the DRSS does not descrimanate! All that is required to be a member of the DRSS is to like rifles with more than one barrel!

Any double rifle is better than no double at all. Nobody is going to laugh at your rifle at the HOOT & SHOOT, or the DRSS get together hunts. However they may want to shoot up all your ammo with your rifle! DRSS stands for

.................Double Rifle Shooter's Society not Double Rifle SNOBB Society!

Purdey, down to Biakal.........Welcome aboard!

I'd take that bet against my Valmet DR. It will group that good or better at 100 yards. We can even go more shots per bbl, if you want? Smiler

Thanks MacD37! I was not going to say anything until I had it in my hot little hands but...

I bought a Baikal .30-06 last week dancing

Due to the bureaucracy of the Uber nanny state here, I've had to send my firearms certificate off to the Police HQ to add .30-06 to it. The land I have permission to shoot is rated up to .308 so I should get it with no problem. Once the ticket comes back, I can go pick up the new (to me) gun. I'll probably take it directly to the gunsmith and drop it off to have the triggers done.

Scotland for stag first but,I'm hoping to take it to Namibia or SA and bag some PG with it. holycow

Hello All

Thanks for the clarification on DRSS, and I was only pulling the p!@@ on the chaps going for the Sabatti owners and rifles,

So now thatwe have kissed and made up - I would love too join DRSS on a shoot next year whilst I am over there, is there any shoot planned for January / Feb 2011 ?

Jerry, Hello there, had a good season, all things considered( i.e economy, non paying clients, my idiocy with a knive) but I can say this with absolute clarity -

Viva the 450 Rigby, that rifle will never be retired it has been my comopanion for too long, in certain circumstances I would defintely want a 4 round bolt gun in my hands, oh boy I can just see the ???? coming in on that one

See you in January , and I will buy the Laphrohaig

Happy New Member of DRSS

But I still dream of a Holland & Holland Royal , in something sweet like a 450/400
