Nice rifle! Put the 12bore 'zoo rifle' up here too! Cheers Tinker _________________________________ Self appointed Colonel, DRSS

Hey Tinker, I'll get some pics up of that too. Digs flying back from the states today so I'm looking forward to a chat about the collection. I need to ID a couple of guns to keep for myself and I think that Holland might be one of them. It might be fun to take to Zambia next year. I'm off to Ireland on Tuesday to view three more guns. Two for me and one for the shelves if the prices are right. So I'll put up some more pics that are not yet on Digs site. Rgds, K

Very nice rifle. What is the bullet weight it shoots. Old loads were 120gr black or 50gr chordite with 300 to 350gr .458" bullet. That may not be recommended for buffalo in Zambia. I hope you have fun with the rifle. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

Naki, I agree that it would not be my first choice for Buff. I think I will be using a friends Cogswell 375 flanged DR if Buff is on the menu. It might be fun using the BPE as a plainsgame rifle depending on the ranges. I know Dig wants to shoot his buff with something like this!! K

Fallow buck that is a beautiful rifle! Is that thee 500/450#1 Express, or the or the later 500/450 BP which was also offered in nitro for black ammo? I have a Westley Richards 500/450#1 express double rifle that is fitted with sel ejactors, and is hammerless top lever rifle, sold out of the london store in 1892. The 500/450#1 express and NFB loads were never offered in that chambering and is considered a deer and red stagg rifle. If that is what you have I don't think I'd be in too big a hurry to take on cape buffalo with it! ....................... ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Hi Mac, Buff was never on the menu for this stuff for me. Dig on the other hand is more willing to "go vintage". However in this case I have to currently plead ignorance on details as Dig dealt with the cataloguing of the acquisition as I was caught up with other business. I plan on going over it all in a few weeks when I can get out to Texas and spend some time in the vault. I do believe this is the BPE rifle but I'm not 100% sure. I reckon it might do for looking pretty while rolling over some camp meat though if the opportunity arises K
