FrostbitTrash Target
Took "Joyce's" Lawn & Alder 450/400 3 1/4 for a quick test drive today as the final inspection to close the sale.
This is factory Kynoch ammo. I shot four rounds, Brett shot two. 25 yards (although Brett wanted me to tell you it was 300 yards offhand with the the leaf flipped up) off a standing rest.
Just wanted to make sure it was regulated. The three to the right are the right barrel, three to the left the left barrel. The two lower shots are each a "pilot error" flyer. One from me one from Brett. The two closest to the center are my first two shots. Should have quit right then.

cal pappasThe last time Brett shot a target that good WAS at 300 yards with my .600. He held the rifle on his shoulder pointing backwards and used a small mirror to sight in. He is amazing when it comes to double rifles. The highest compliment I can pay him: He and Shootaway are one!

cal pappasIf the rights are rights and the lefts are lefts the group will tighten at 50-75 and maybe 100 yards. You got a keeper, J&J.

FrostbitI feel very fortunate to have been sipping a cup of coffee in my robe on a Sunday morning and clicking on the Classifieds. I really thought it was a misprint or perhaps a "too good to be true, something has got to be wrong with it" situation. I made a snap judgement and took a chance.
Turned out it was not much of a chance in that Shawn Joyce was great to deal with and gave me all the time I wanted to inspect and fire the rifle.
It is everything and more than I could have hoped for. Once Joyce gets her legs back under her post Chemo we will introduce her to the Lawn & Alder and if she like it, it's hers. Otherwise I'll just trade Cal straight up for his Watson Brothers 500NE.

pagosawingnutNo you won't! He wants to trade Todd for his new Blaser R8!

Straight up for the .600 Wilkes.
For the .500 Watson I'd have to throw in some Benjamins.
We'll talk in May.

surestrikeFrostbit,
Is there a dumpster full of fish guts and other garbage that you could pose that rifle on for some pictures? I saw it in the classifieds ad but it just doesn't do it justice unless it's posed on a heaping pile of trash.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Hi Jim,
I just arrived home from SCI and saw your email and link to this post. I am very happy that you have found something that will likely work for Joyce! This has been a great rifle for me. Unfortunately, as you know, another time sensitive commitment forced me to sell and I am glad you have benefited! If only I could have purchased it for the price you paid. :0)
On a different note, I wish you could have been here for our informal get together at SCI. I would like to have met both you and Joyce in person. I know that one day we will have the opportunity to do so. Give her my best and please enjoy your beautiful double.
Best always,
Shawn

That is the absolute truth. Nice to see that everything on that deal worked out, the rifle is in good hands and working well. Jim, if you wake up one night with a burning desire to trade it for a Blaser, send me the first PM.

Hi Shawn,
I'm sure we will have the opportunity to meet up sometime in the future. Thanks again for the party invite.

I thought of that while taking the picture but decided to add the Scotch bottles since we are talking "fine British" trash here. I should have had a Cohiba or two hanging out of the bag as well.
I liked Brett's idea of the old spaghetti noodles across the gun but I didn't have a Blaser to use instead of the Lawn & Alder.
I was sitting on a scooter when I took the pic though and Joyce has gained 11 pounds since starting chemo if that counts as a "fat chick".

I saw the target that was a composition of efforts between you and Brett. You may be embarrassed once Joyce outshoots you both and posts that target.

Considering that when sighting in for Andrew in Zambia she put one shot through the same hole made by the previous shot I fear you may be correct.
