Hello All,

I found a used Searcy that I am wanting to buy.

I know a lot of you guys own them.

How is Butch Searcy on repairs if you are not the original owner???

There is nothing wrong with the gun now but if anything happens in the future does he back up his work??

Thanks,
Jamie BOOM

Jamie,

I bought a used older Searcy Field Grade gun in .470 NE. Was in beautiful shape and has very pretty wood.

I sent Butch a note asking for loading information. He replied that he needed the serial number. When I provided it he sent full data for cast, softs, and solids.

My rear trigger was a bit too light for my taste ... abt 2 pounds. I sent a note asking what it would cost to have the triggers redone to 3-3.5 pounds. He said "Send it in." I did. He returned it QUICKLY with no charge, and he paid for the return shipping!!!

It's hard for me to say anything but the most positive things about Butch's service ... it has been nothing sort of spectacular for me.

Mike

Honkey:

Do a search on here and you will hear nothing but glowing reviews about Butch's service and him standing behind his product.

I have a .577 from him and can attest he is one stand up man.

DO NOT have ANY fears about him standing behind his rifles...PERIOD.

I believe Butch will stand behind his work regardless of who owns the rifle. If the gun has been abused you may be on your own regardless of who bought it but I doubt that is the case here. I would give him a call and ask for him to check out the rifle prior to buying and then pose the same question to him. He will give you an honest answer.

Yep, Mr. Searcy is a class act. I just took a good bull elephant with a double rifle from him.

It had an original problem but Butch fixed it pronto and even helped me with a rifle he did not build.

Do not hesitate to depend on him.

I read that his early rifles were Browning shotgun conversions. Can anybody tell me what date or serial number he started using his own actions?

Regarding Butch and product support...I once was negotiating with a Cabelas store for the purchase of a Searcy in 577. I had a question the store guy couldn't answer, so he called Searcy Company. Butch answered the question, then offered to have the rifle shipped to him, he'd check it over, fix or adjust anything that needed it, provide the original regulation load data, and return it with a clean bill of health...for free! I don't think there's any better at product support than Searcy.

I can't say anything but good things about Butch and his rifles. He is a great guy and is wonderful to work with.

On top of that his guns are truly custom made. Buy with confidence.

Butch not only treats you as a good customer, but most of his customers treat him as a good friend. His rifles keep getting better and better and I will be a Searcy rifle fan for life. Have one (375 Flanged Sidelock) and should be getting a nice sidelock 500NE at the end of the year.

I bought a new double from Butch in late 2006, and have never had any problem with it. Butch has always taken the time to answer all of my questions and I know that if my double ever needs repair that I can send it to him and it will be takne care of. He is a class act.

Well, Honkey, I guess by now you are well filled in on Butch's backing habits on his rifles, no matter where or from who you buy them. I've known Butch since he lived in Farmington New Mexico, and he is the real deal! If he says "good day" you're gona have one, you can take what he says to the bank, because it is legal tender, backed by gold! thumb

I own 2 Searcy's.....both "pre-owned" although the 450 hadn't even been seen by it's "owner". Butch told me if I have ANY issues, to send him the gun and he would take care of it. I actually had to send him the 375 Fl to get restocked as it was made for someone with 8" long arms I think....THAT wasn't free, but the swapping of 30mm rings and a going over was.

I have owned 2 Searcy's, both are 2nd hand, and Butch stood behind both of them, even though I have never bought directly from him. Simply put, The best customer/ product service out there. Bar none.

Honkey, Welcome to the Searcy owners club. You have a rifle made by one of the finest and most honorable fellows that ever made a rifle.
