I posted this on the reloading section too....anybody have some load data using 4831sc and a 480 gr bullet. I have a lot of good RL15 data...and powder...as I reload for my 470 and MANY other calibers with that powder. I have a couple of #'s of H4831sc and thought I might try some loads using it.

Thanks.

Not yet, Jack....but I'm getting antsy already!!! Initial ETA is the end of Feb....but we'll see. I just enjoy doinking around with the loads, etc. while I'm waiting....it's the engineer in me!

Trust me..the first regulating rounds fired will be posted.

Take care...good to hear from you.

GarBy:
I'm using 1.19 x's the cordite load for RL 15 and it duplicates my Kynoch loads in my 450 3 1/4 for 83.3 grain load. I thought that Keith Kearcher told me that he recommends 1.3 x's the cordite for 4831 but I could be mistaken so check with Keith before you use that formula.

Thanks, Dutch. I had read that 1.33 was for IMR 4831...the 1.3 times would be due to the difference between IMR and H 4831?...this is the dilemma....I actually thought that folks were using a bit more of H than IMR.

Don't know if this will help but I get around 2,150 with 500 Grain Woodleighs in the 470 using the following loads.

89 grains of RL-15
106 Grains of IMR-4831 CF = 1.19
110 Grains of H-4831 CF = 1.24

If I convert from the original cordite load instead of from RL-15 the CFs are:

75 Grains of cordite
89 grains of RL-15 CF = 1.19
106 grains of IMR-4831 CF = 1.41
110 grains of H-4831 CF = 1.47

Look on phillip@thefuture.co.za for reloading data for all the NE calibers. List best powders and starting charges.
