UPDATED WITH NEW PHOTOS OF THE ACTION IN COLOR. I have received confirmation from Bailey my .500 is regulated and moving into the finishing stages. Based on the targets photos, Bailey put in some extra efforts to get it just right. Just wanted to provide an update for those following the building of these rifles.

Nice dark wood with straight grain, also like the choise of red pad. What options did you go for?

It looks like the WR Hemingway .577 I saw at the SCIshow at the WR booth.

That sure is going to be a nice one! When you grow tired of it, I'll take it off your hands!

I went with a pretty modest build on the rifle. The only options I elected for were a ghost ring and color case hardening. The engraving is slated for the basic level done by Bailey. I went with standard wood and standard stock dimensions. All of which make for a beautiful and functional rifle in my opinion and at a price that is quite reasonble. I also did not elect for a take down version.

I was scrolling down the photos and reached the third one. Thinks myself "Oh, I prefer a much fuller forend on a nice single!" Doh. Lovely job and that stock looks like it will come up very nicely. What will she weigh? Congratulations. Chris DRSS

Nice comb-over tang. Is there any cast to the stock STGS?

I can't recall the exact weight Bailey quoted me, but I suspect just above 10-10.5 lbs.

I don't know that there is any cast to the stock. I could be wrong, but I don't think that is an element Bailey and I included.

Of course I don't know, but I would bet there is cast off. I discussed it with Bailey with regards to my order and he seemed to consider cast-off a necessity... Unless otherwise specified.. Or the rifle will not point right...unless you lack shoulders

When I was at Baileys shop we discuses cast off. when Bailey fits you for your rifle. IF you have neck problems etc. he adjust cast off accordingly. with my old neck injuries we needed to cast off 3/8th of and inch if memory serves me right.

I Love your new rifle!!!! D/R Hunter Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

This rifle is at about 3.5 yrs since the order was placed and deposits pd. Hard to wait, but I think it will be well worth the wait and then some.

Compared to other true custom makers, I think around 2-3 years is pretty common. It is understandable if a few delays chain into +1 year (affecting all in line). I have run into similar delays (years) wit custom builds previously (handguns), the mistake made by the smith then was not being transparent about reasons for delay (economical), and setting a lot of deadlines he never made (not explaining why). I don' t know how Bradshaw has handled the delays, but to me he seems very honest, open and forhcoming. But i know the feeling... We all turn into impatient hyperactives waiting for our special creations

When I was 10, on my birthday, my Dad took me to the local Schwinn dealer to buy a 10 speed Varsity model bicycle. The owner said it would be two weeks before they were in stock. We left and went down the street to the Western Auto who had plenty of 10 speeds in stock. I couldn't wait for the bike which I knew was better. The Western Flyer that I chose was such a POS. I envied my buddy's with the Schwinns but I knew I should have waited. That lesson comes to my mind so often as it also does here. All the waiting is mute in the end if the quality makes you smile...A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
