After many hundreds of rounds, my old R.B. Rodda 450/400 3" seemed to be showing her age. The lever was a bit to the left of center and I was worried that it was going "Off Face". This old rifle came out of India many years ago, and while in good condition, the right bore slugged at .412 while the left came in at .411, not an unusual situation in a used double. I took it to Aaron Little to have an expert look it over. After examination, Aaron told me that it was not off face and that the locking bolt had some wear on it.After repairing the locking bolt and tightening up the fore end, he also bent both triggers slightly rearward, as I have short fingers and would easily slip off the front trigger under recoil. While working on the triggers, he also found and repaired a wear issue with the safety that could have easily resulted in an accidental discharge. I have my rifle back and I am very pleased with the results, I will take it out and try the triggers today if weather permits. I feel very fortunate that we have such a highly talented gunmaker like Aaron here in Texas, the quality of his work is outstanding! Lee.

The weather held and I got to do some shooting. It sure is nice to have a better fit on the triggers! She shot very well and everything is tight and right. I tried my usual load or R-15 behind 400 grain Woodleighs and all was good. I used the same load with some of the new Hornady bonded softs and also tried some Swift softs, all 400 grain. Both new bullets had a horizontal spread of 4" at 50 yds, as opposed to approx 2" with the Woodleighs. I will have to do a little load work to try to bring them back in, especially the Swifts. Thanks again to Aaron for putting new life in an old gun!
