I just noticed a .25 inch gap between the stock and the receiver. The stock can be pushed back to touch the metal. Obviously something is loose. It has an aftermarket Griffin and Howe recoil pad. Where is the screw that tightens the stock? This is UGEX 9.3X74. I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf.... DRSS

Okay, problem solved. Took off recoil pad and tightened stock screw. I guess my next question would be how much torque does it take? I don't want to overtighten and split the stock. Is this an issue with doubles, especially the big ones when they are shot a lot? I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf.... DRSS

The answer should be in the manual. if not, do a check via Google. It could do damage either way, stock loose or too tight.

Bought it used. I e-mailed Chapuis for a manual and all I got was basically a brochure. No info whatsoever. I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf.... DRSS

Call Champlin Firearms and ask George or JJ. I'm sure they will be glad to help you.
