In the very early 1970s, a Max Gera, I think originally from Europe, worked as gunsmith for Pachmayr Gun Works, Los Angeles. Shortly after that, he was "discovered" by Harry Sanford, Of Auto Mag. Corp., who had him design the rotary bolt Auto Mag. .44 mag. automatic handgun. Shortly after that, Max Gera, while living in Azusa, CA. started his own firm, with seven men working in his plant, making custom sxs double barrel rifles, machining the actions from 8620L steel, making monoblocks to fit, etc. They used Long Beach, Calif. stockmaker Engelbert Olafson for doing some of the stockmaking. They made their double rifles in most any caliber, rimmed and rimmless, and in 1998, I saw one of these rifles, in .458 Winchester, 26" barrels, being sold by Mike Weatherby. Does anyone know anything about these rifles, or know anything about this Max Gera? | ||
