I have never shot one however I have seen several. Fit and finish were quite good on these rifles and people report very good accuracy. My biggest problem with the rifle is the idea of having to re-cock after loading. IMO this is not an issue 95% of the time however for me it negates the entire premise of a double rifle for use in dangerous game. I have seen videos of clients hunting buffalo with de-cocked double rifles and on two separate events the hunter mounts the rifle to his shoulder and pulls the trigger only to find his rifle is not ready. Yes the same thing could happen with a regular safety however in watching the video’s the clients had to apply noticeable force to cock the rifle. This meant bringing the gun down their waste to gain more leverage with their thumb. In all fairness both shooters were able to accomplish the task and still shoot their buffalo however if the situation would have been different I believe bad things could have happened. If the hunter is proficient with the Blaser and spends the time practicing I expect these guns will never present a problem. I choose not to own one as IMO there are several better options available. I don’t believe I would have any problem with these rifles in a small bore, not dangerous game caliber like 7x65r or something similar. ****************************************************************** R. the common definition of the difference between genius and idiocy: genius has limits. I tend to approach hunting (especially DG) with the notion that my man Murphy will be my backup! I had a Kreighoff Big Five in 500NE 3", the first one in the country. Great rifle, well stocked for recoil management, super accuracy. I could not get used to the safety set up, and sold it. This is the same type of situation, IMHO. Muscle Memory takes over in times of crisis. Cocking the rifle is not an instinctive reaction. I like simple, aka "stupid proof". That's one thing I loved about the tang safety Rugers, the safety. You have to push it on or off with your thumb... It's like CRF vs Pushfeed. I know the CRF is going to dump the empty and stick a loaded round in the chamber, every time out. Thoreau had something when he coined the phrase "simplify, simplify...". Rich Buff Killer

To my way of thinking, the advantages of the Blaser S2 are that its lock up is very, very strong. Perhaps stronger than any other double. Regulation is mechanically adjustable. It has a de-cocker, rather than a safety. That makes the S2, along with the Krieghoff, one of the two safest doubles out there. Extra barrel sets are available. With some fairly minor fitting by a gunsmith, one can have several calibers at less cost than with other doubles. Disadvantages include, again to my way of thinking, its non-traditional Teutonic styling. I don't like it. I also don't like the use it makes of alloy and plastic parts. I don't mind the use of alloy and plastic in the straight bolt actioned R93, but I really don't like it in a double. Its de-cocker is automatic - meaning that the rifle automatically reverts to de-cocked after the action is opened, reloaded and closed. I don't know why, but I understand that the S2 design is such that it's not possible (or practical) to rework the action to make the de-cocker non-automatic. Sorry, but I can't accept that. A dangerous game rifle's default condition should be HOT! - not USELESS! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Mr has coverd all the points and I agree with him. The Kreighoff has a decocking leaver but it is cocked and readey to go after reloading.
