Since the german lady(Merkel 470) took off for the warmer climate & the handsome Mississipian Roll Eyes,I just had to fill the emptiness of my gun safe Big Grin
Well call it good karma,I ran into my good friend Mjines & aquired the CZ stopper that I shot a couple of years ago at a DRSS shoot clap, but wait my good fortune was not over yet,Euroguns,Charles Prince, listed some Heym rifles at such a discount, that I just had to have a Heym Safari!!!!
Both the rifles are a good fit,the wood on both is fantastic!! Dealing with both of these gentlemen was a real pleasure,no stress & everything was as described, now I just wish Mac would sell me his Merkel 9.3x74 Wink

Pictures on the way!

Tony,
I will bring her,but you must promise not to steal her from me Big Grin
Those short barrels just come up nice & easy, kind of reminds me of my Chapuis 9.3,when I was in the heavy stuff in Africa.

Let us know how the two doubles shoot.

I would really like to see if the 75% rule will work in the 458, ie a 350gr Hornady.

I handled one of thos O?U's once and kinda wish I would have bought it.

However now that I have my Little 30-30 Heym I have a short light deer/pig gun, scope in QD mounts, with no recoil.

Tony,
the 350gr Hornady is #1 on my list of bullets to try,I have always wanted to try them out in a DR chambered for the 458WM,I have no doubt that they will work, your 75% rule worked real well in the Merkel 470,very accurate, easy on the recoil, the bullets were affordable & the piggies never knew what hit them!

Bill73,

Is the Hyem a 458wm?

My 458wm double shoots the 350 Woodleighs well. I have a couple of boxes of the Hornaday, but haven't loaded then yet.

Hey Bal, very nice pair - love the wood on the Heym. I remember the CZ from a couple of years ago and how you enjoyed shooting it - congrats on both of them.
