Gents, some of you posted the name of a gent (or gents) who do custom work with game leather. Specifically, I'm looking to have a cover built for my Americase for my VC. The canvas case that came with it does not do the rifle (or case) justice. I would appreciate the contact info. Jorge

Dick Murray. I don't have his contact info handy but I think he's listed in most SCI and or DSC magazines if you have one laying around somewhere. If you can't find it Jorge, let me know and I'll look it up for you. Or you can google Dick Murray Custom Leather.

Thanks, Todd. I've dealt with Dick through the years and I don't know why but I did not know he did custom work like that. There's also another guy with a Spanish name I think that does real good work too. j

From Michael458's B&M website---

We are very proud of our Leather goods. All are custom made by Mr. Henry Flores in California. Henry is a MASTER Leather Artist. The quality of his work is fantastic. All the more exotic leather used is from my personal collection, my personal leather from buffalo and elephant I have hunted myself.

Many of you may have your own leather to work with, and if so, and would like to get in touch with Henry please do so. Henry can do anything in leather you can imagine. Contact Information below.

I've been on the phone with Mr Flores discussing the project and it looks like we're going forward with it. He is a pleasure to deal with and his prices reasonable. When the product's finished, I'll post pics of course!

I think you will be very pleased working with Henry... I Have him working on a few more 1911 holsters and belts for me right now, and also a couple of knife sheaths.... Absolutely the best leather work I have ever had done. This is a rig I had him do for my Kimbers...... And he does my slings as well.... Elephant leather, laced with buffalo....... Some slings laced with elephant too....

Jorge-

Henry Flores is THE MAN. You won't regret your decision. When I found Henry and had him execute my designs, Michael was ecstatic and began sending Henry whole hides to work for him. He used my ele for my culling belt & cartridge slides and Beau's buff for culling belt and pants belt. I know that many AR folks have since used Henry for custom items with no issues.

Reminds me I need to meet Henry and have some additional items made! Looking forward to pics of the case cover.

Sadly, Murray does not even like to talk about A-N-Y sort of custom work. I wanted a case for my OM 70 450/375 RUM made from my Cape Buffalo hide, with the center section from my Kudu, and another for my OM70 300 H&H from my Zebra hide with either Blesbok or Oryx center carry handle section.

They were very adamant that THEY! did not do such non-standard things or use customers leather.

It must be wonderful to be that successful in this economy to turn such well paying jobs. With a customer supplied hide the profit margin would be pretty nice.

Thanks for pointing out Mr Flores.

I just sent Dick Murray a panel of elephant hide so he can make me a slip (again)for my 470. First one still lives in Africa, with the PH. killpc Elephant hide outside, buckle flap closure, sheepskin lining. Really worked well for the double in the rifle rack in the back. So now I need another. It's his S11 product, just FYI.

Well gents, I sent off my hide and case to Henry via UPS lst week. Hide arrived but UPS has apparently LOST IT.

I had a bad feeling when it showed arrival scan in that cesspool aka Oakland California. So they've launched an "investigation" that can take up to eight business days and go from there. I am sure getting the claim paid off will be one gigantic REDASS. I hope the Obama voter (wel it IS Oakland) that absconded it gets penile cancer.

Lesson learned here, UPS' customer service as well as their lost package procedures are non-existent. Their website is useless as are the people on the telephone.
And the next Redass come when I try and collect on the insurance. I have to fill out paperwork. What friggin' paperwork, I insured it and payed the premium, so STFU if you can't find it and send me a check.

An update men. Curiously enough when the "eight business days" deadline for payment was due to expire, my case apparently turned up at the "Lost and Found" which when I asked the simple question of "where is that"? they responded, "we don't know, either Utah or Missouri." But don't worry, we'll send you an update to your email...in two MORE business days telling you when we are going to send it to the original destination.

That and the fact three different UPS employees have called me to tell me the same thing only serves to validate what a completely fugged up company UPS is. I strongly recommend the Post Office which in and of itself speaks volumes.

When Henry gets it I'll post. Oh and I told Henry under penealty of DEATH NOT to return the finished product via same Smiler

Well, they damaged it. This packaged was delivered in a damaged condition without the original box it was shipped and with just a new UPS label affixed to the case itself. Moreover, I was first told by your UPS phone employee the package had been found in St Louis and would not be delivered until Wednesday of this week. The package was delivered this past Friday, regular UPS ground so it's obvious nobody had a CLUE as to where it was actually was found. The fact the lock was forcibly hacked off, clearly indicates one of UPS' Obama employees (well it IS OAKLAND),in a deliberate attempt to steal it's contents, did this. I plan to file a claim with UPS for the repair of the lock (it is a custom made gun case) plus shipping to and from the manufacturer. Total cost is going to be around 250 dollars. I expect they are going to want documentation and that will be forthcoming as soon as UPS informs me of what process I need to follow to recoup damages as described.

Gents an update. albeit belated. After much haranguing, UPS coughed up about 300 bucks to repair the broken lock. It's been at henry Flores' FALCON'S FORGE Shop for a couple of months and he just called and emailed me to tell me his work is done and Michael458 (again) steered me right:

Jorge,

Glad to see Henry has done a magnificent job on your case! When I found him and sent Michael pics of the work he did for me along with my endorsement, Michael sent him his first elephant hide and a large order. I don't think Michael has stopped placing orders with Henry since!

I hope that when you look at your case in the future you will see only the beautiful leather work and not the goat-rope with UPS. tu2

Not to hijack the thread but I wonder if thats actually true. A couple of years ago I and a company I deal with down there, split an order evenly and shipped one by USPS and one by UPS. This came out of the fact that I have had many packages delayed excessively when shipped UPS. Well the USPS package arrived 4 days before the UPS one. Does this mean that UPS gives better service to USPS packages than to their own?

Glad to see it finally worked out in the end Jorge

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Well, I have a friend who has been driving for UPS for over 20 years, one of his stops is the "post office"... SO, I know it's true...

At least it's true, where "I" live.
