As many of you know I purchased my first double rifle recently. Since then I have received some help from the double rifle community well above and beyond the call of duty. For starters I would like to extend a very big and public (because I believe everyone should know just what a good guy he is) thank you to Tom Oliver our own 7kongoni. Tom previously owned the rifle and was an absolute blessing! On his own volition he gave me his dies, ammo, load info, and wonderful pictures of animals he took with the rifle not to mention the original Champlin price tag when he bought the rifle (for considerably less ). Tom is a true gentleman and I deeply own him. I'm not sure that I'll be able to repay the debt to him, but at least I will try to "pass it on". That I can promise! Thank you Tom! I'd like to thank Mike Brooks a friend, fellow Alaskan, and fellow double nut who spotted me bullets and in general helped me with load developement. For the lower 48ers it's harder than hell at times to find reloading supplies anywhere. Up here it's worse. Sometimes A LOT worse. Thanks Mike! Lastly I'd like to thank Cal Pappas. Cal is an authority on double rifles and really and truely has the double passion. He is a wealth of knowledge regarding English doubles. His help with choosing a rifle, reloading, insight on my rifle, spotting me bullets, use of his cabin and range for working up loads, and friendship are MUCH appreciated!!! For those of you that don't know Cal is a regular contributer to African Hunter. He also is the author of a wonderful book on the classic English 600NE. I can highly recomend his book! Thank you Cal! And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too. May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep. May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip. -Seth Peterson | ||
