Pondoro and I have discussed some old calibers. Does anyone have any experience with 360 no 2 ? What modern caliber would compare ? Practical hunting ? Bullets ? Morten The more I know, the less I wonder !

Between a .350 Rigby and a .375 flanged in energy. Just a bit more than a 35 Whelen. Woodleigh bullets are the bees knees. Critters: small to medium game, cats, and buffalo, too. An ignored cartridge whereby rifles can be found at a good price. It really is a fine round and deserved a better history. I believe brass can be made from a .450-400 3-inch. Cal, excellent for moose then ? I do not find any good priced doubles in this caliber. The market for doubles seems very high priced in the US compared to Europe. I typically observe prices in Europe 50% Down from US prices - and the rifles on Guns International stay there for months and years ! Frustrating ! Morten The more I know, the less I wonder !

Rigby350 has a lovely Daniel Fraser in 360No2. Comparable in capability to the 375F.

It's not a common caliber and probably was not common in the vintage years, either. I've seen a few rifles priced will below where they should be if the caliber was a .375 flanged or a .450-400. In my limited experience they seem to be priced along the lines of a black powder express caliber. As for moose, it would be absolutely perfect in my opinion. I have a caribou and moose permit for this September and will take my newly acquired .350 no2 rather than the .450-400 that has accompanied me so many times. It is comparable to the .360 no2. I think Paul Roberts re chambers some of these into 9.3X74R. A few years ago a beautiful Purdy was up for sale - similarly altered. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

Cal is correct as to underpriced. Just lost out on a bid for a Hollis .360 No 2 NE underlever hammer for $3,200.00 Oh, well. Keeping my eyes open for another sweet deal. Dutch

It's true that Paul Roberts did re-chamber some .360 NE doubles to 9.3x74R, but these were guns chambered for the 400-360 NE cartridges, not the 360#2 NE. The 360#2 NE case is considerably bigger in diameter than 9.3x74R, so that re-chamber job cannot be done. ...................

20 years ago I owned a Joseph Lang double chambered for 360#2 NE, and did a fair bit of hunting with it. It was a Webley PHV-1 with 26" barrels, and was a nice trim little double. From memory weight was a tad over 9 pounds. It shot well with a few different bullet weights, and killed well. As others have said it can be loaded to be pretty close to .375 Flanged Magnum. Cases can be made from 450 NE thick rim or 450-400 NE 3", but be aware that the 360#2 has a slightly smaller base diameter, which can cause tight chambering in some guns when you form cases from 450 NE or 450-400 NE 3". Resizing the base to the correct diameter fixes that problem of course. I think Bertram still makes cases as well. .............

I really like my Greener in 360 No.2 and would like to have a nice falling block chambered in it some day. Normally, it shoots a 320gr bullet at only a couple hundred fps less than the 375 Magnum with a 270gr bullet. I have loaded mine with H4831 and there are some loads using H1000 in Wright's book which I plan on trying out.
