If one does not get into likes and dislikes of the cocking mechanism of Krieghoff. And also avoid subjective issues like apperance and "feel". Are they the same quality wise? Are they equals in accuracy, reliability and durability (in B5 calibers)? Are there any mechanical manufacturing or design differences between them.

If you are happy with your K-Gun then that is all that matters. They have a good reputation in all areas that you are asking about. There are most certainly design differences between all the rifles. Enjoy!

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! That really is an excellent question!

I would imagine almost all the currently built double rifles to be of equal quality in relation to metals used, machining precision, metal finish. All have their unique designs and methods of regulating. I have owned and shot Merkels,Chapuis's, Heyms and have handled Kreighofs on several occaiasons. Any determination I would make would be for personal like or dislike and so would be oflittle value. In my opinion this also applies to H&H's and Purdys, etc.

So it seems too me like what people pay a lot of extra for is custom tailoring the double for their prefrences. Some companies are more accomodating for this than others? If this is the case there is no reason for spending a lot of money for a H&H that is custom fitted for another person unless by chance that persons prefrences are similar to ones own.

Not quite! The resale value of a genuine H&H is considerably more than the others that have been mentioned. There is another thread about "the point of diminishing returns" which touches on this question. Personal preferences play a considerable role in purchasing decisions whether it be firearms or automobiles.

A H+H is art, that is the reason why they pay so high prices even for second hand ones.

The German, Spanish, French etc. DR are guns to use. And therefore decreases in the amount. (Italy is more a shot gun producer then rifle, they have a few firms which now really make top quality, the mass production has a large variarity of grades) Austria has no mass production of DR only high grade for Ferlach. (the rokoko in rifle building counter part to Blaser)

New mass production DR are more or less very close together in quality. Krieghoff, Merkel, Heym, Blaser. In the past Krieghoff was in front, then came Heym (who had since ever a very high quality standard), Blaser is not that old (I would give here the lowest rating, but engeeniering is top as well as the accuracy, but the finish and handling is agerage or below) and Merkel catch up after they go new production factory and tools. (they had some problems in 80´s when GDR ended up, at the time they was agerage or below).
